There is a nice gap in the pennines which may make these showers last, if they follow the path through Haltwhistle, this one is slightly further north towards Kielder so hopefully the land isn't too high around there

Nice understanding of northern geography there :D

Google Maps... LOL.

Snowstorm i think they're on course at least for Hexham, where they goes from there i don't know probably in-between Newcastle and Durham it depends if they stay on the same course.

The one behind looks slightly further north though.

First post of the winter and good to be back.

Decent snow shower just passed through..

Have been in city today but nice to come back up here and some snow cover on car, grass and pavements.

Light snow falling again as I type.

A fair amount of snow gathering in SW Scotland, this must be out best chance so far of something wintry...

The shower approaching Hexham is all Snow on its Eastern edge too! :) Latest update shows only a little section of sleet at the back

It does seem to be dying though hope it makes it!

The winds are veering ever more westerly. I reckon that clump will make it.. and that it will end up about a mile north of Durham and we'll miss out. You heard it here first. ;)

Mainly hail and sleet on the coast but we've had more thunder & lightening in the last two nights than all summer

Perfect ;) I don't think it'll make it though- last few shots have killed it, 1945 has basically finished it.

I'm talking about the big clump just above Gretna... looks like it's heading almost directly east now... could even miss NEwcastle??

I think Stanley/ Chester le Street might get it if it survives (the little clump)

The large clump will surely a quick covering as far east as Hexham, but if its dying when it hits Hexham it could fizzle before it hits Newcastle. I'd be happy with a sugar dusting tonight, just so I can see snow!

ECM at 120 would give heavey snow from the midlands northwards on Saturday

Probably all change by tomorrow though

BT has your weather station been blown down? Your graps have been the same now for over an hour. :lazy:

You couldn't make it up... the bit travelling through the Tyne Valley has died, whilst the northern arm travelling over the higher ground is surviving. Looks like Morpeth will get a smattering! Still hoping to see a solitary flake from that first shower mind, even if it has died a death.

Still, there are plenty of showers piling into Dumfries and Galloway now, so if this one makes it we could be catching a few tonight.
