Well then that's strange you would think with the high SSTs and cold 850's that there would be at least some convection out there. Maybe it's the lower dewpoints?

Evening all, doesnt look to good tonight apart from cumbria, NAE still says yes to snow for southern parts of region tommorow but im beginning to lose patience with that model, it seems to me there is no middle ground, its either bang on the money or way off, i think it overdoes the winteriness of the PPN.

LOL!

-26C, blimey that would be slightly chilly. Might have to put my coat on.

Btw, the dewpoint can never be higher than the air temperature. :)

The -7c 850 line barely make into Cumbria and the -6c 850 line struggles to get to Cheshire as a tiny pool, according to the GFS 18z.

Absolutely nothing to get excited about.

Oh come on.

Uppers now -5.2C, air temperature falling fast, dewpoint 0C.

Precip = snow, and it's all to the North. :/

Nah. Shorts at -26C is comfortable.

Sometimes I take a dip in the canal too.

First signs of the Irish Sea waking up now, small but powerful showers popping up just off the coast of Liverpool.

850s were -6 during the last cold spell and the best your got was hail and rain. Irish sea is too warm and is evident by the temperature readings in the area around 5-7.c. The dew point is completely irrelevant.

Backtrack, could you tell me where you are getting those current 850 temps from? Would be interesting to monitor them.
