I'm a bit dubious of his recordings TBH. I've had my garden furniture moved by the wind today; it's been extremely gusty- especially before the CF passage

Wind has just picked up substantially as I type. Could finally be getting interesting.

Aye it's no way to live a winter, I'm only ~50% sure we'll see a change to colder weather in January

Like I said model thread I massively blame the last two winters for this.

If wasn't for them so good then I can guarantee I wouldn't be on here now stressing myself out over it all but ah well...

Lightning with the showers over Liverpool can be seen from the Wirral.

I think Ian Brown is pretty much correct with his analysis of the NW of England being a poor place for snow. For places east of manchester i still say an easterly is best bet for snow although i appreciate they tend to run out of steam very quickly as they hit rochdale oldham etc.

The other option is a frontal attack from the atlantic when the cold air is in place this sceanrioo can provide plenty of snow.

The third option is a Nwl'y but as we have seen they are very much hit and miss.

As far as tonight and tomorrow it will be similar to sunday imo,ie of little interest to most of us.

BT it was only other day when you goading the NEsters saying good it was looking for the NW and that it wouldn't be until mid January until they saw any proper snowfall.

Tables certainly seemed to have turned now lol.

Nahhhhh, we'll get some snow.

It will probably be January till the NE gets a proper snowfall.

Looking at precip charts you will probably only get marginally more snow, and we have around a 25% chance of snow falling...

Well the chances of any actual snowfall for their area looks a lot more than ours at the minute even with less precipitation but we'll see.

Well all the hype of some decent snowfall has more or less disappeared compared to last nights enthusiasm

Well tbh I don't think there was ever that much chance of any great amounts for low levels, but it's always the case that people ramp up the chances lol.

The NE are all jammy sods. It always snows there, what did you expect?

Chances of snow here are zero, don't really care now. Frankly this winter, today especially has ticked me right off.

i think it's about time you start clutching onto that straw that is mid January for cold and snowy weather in your forecast as that's really all you have to hold onto at the minute. :D

Oh and you were always setting yourself up for a fall by getting too excited, maybe it's a lesson of sorts.

Perhaps take a step back from weather watching for a bit? and then see what the models are showing in a few weeks time, it's what I do when there isn't much happening.

Meh. Just not in the best of moods about how horrible today's forecast went.

Didn't get a gust over 29mph, actually pretty gutted.

I'm still confident of some falling snow tomorrow, but as far as lying snow goes, it's gonna have to be a hell of a shower to cover.

I think when I said there was no chance, it was one of them 'spur the moment' comments.

Sorry.

We havegot a hail shower now.

Uppers of -3.5C over us & the Irish Sea. Also a relatively cold air temperature of around 5C. Most of the showers will now be of hail.

Grghhh why you.......

In seriousness my confidence levels were very low even before your spur of the moment thing so that doesn't really make much of a difference to where I stand. :winky:
