Steady light snow now, not enough to cover the ground though and the flakes are very small. When you go outside it sounds like sand is being poured onto the trees bushes.

Snow has started here too . Was very fine flakes to begin with but now getting heavier and showing the first signs of starting to settle.

Wind picking up here now, feels raw. Gone a bit sleety again but suspect within an hour everywhere in Tyne and Wear will we white !!

It will likely be light sleet between the fronts, unless they merge. But it should take around 10 hours for them both to move through, so let's hope it's snow all the way! An inch is looking quite likely now though from this first band, so if it stays as snow throughout we could be looking at a decent fall.

Very Heavy in Washington,starting to settle on the cold footpaths.

The grass is turning white now. There are bits of frozen rain mixed in I think (not freezing, but already frozen) which are making a noise on the window, but it's not really stopping the snow lying.

A few bigger flakes now and slowly getting heavier but still seems sleety to me.

Looking at the radar there is a blob of slightly heavier snow just south of the Tyne with light-moderate snow to the north, but then there is a much heavier pulse moving in from the west. Exciting times!
