Not very warm, but it'll be enough to turn any snow to rain or sleet for a while. Surface temperatures will barely change.

Light snow now :)

Thanks. I recall the ppn type forecasts showing this pattern yesterday I think, sleety/wet snow start...then sleet/rain....back to snow then freeze....seems conceivable now....

The snowflakes are quite small and icy - almost as though they turned very wet then refroze. Almost petered out again.

It's trying to do something but I wouldn't call it proper snow just yet.

Actually it's wet not white at present but bitterly cold in that wind :good:

Now light snow.

So light that it would probably need to snow for a month to get a 1cm covering :D

Heading in the right direction though.

Very jealous of the white out conditions here. Snow has stopped for now, sky darkening though. Temp is still below freezing. http://www.bankground.com/webcam.html

It is encouraging though, Coniston is only at 50m asl.....

Back on our side of the hills it is snowing steadily now and wind whipping up

I'd be VERY surprised if that dewpoint is accurate. Mine is -3.6°C.

I did notice signs on the motorway this morning heading up to the NE saying 'SEVERE WEATHER FORECAST TODAY'. The Highways Agency certainly thinks we're going to get something as well. Light snow here again, larger flakes though.

Keep one eye on the cold front behind the current ppn....its catching up now....but will it catch in time to squeeze the warm sector out?

Something is brewing, getting very dark here snowstorm and its bloody freezing, extra jacket for the match I think.

Not noticed anything falling yet at Cleadon but it is extremely close to the north and west according to the radar, just inching slowly over. Currently 1.3C and dropping (was 1.6C earlier) so it's a question of whether it gets heavy enough rather than whether it is cold enough from this first band of precipitation.

-12°C windchill here. Taking the baby to Tescos... might put a Tshirt on top of his babygrow. Considering a light jumper for me.
