coutryfile weather for week ahead suggesting mostly dry for alll areas apart from the exposed eastern parts. Close to freezing by day, and high sub zero figures overnight.

Might see some snow showers during the week, can often see snow here with an easterly flow. Main news is its gonna be cold (-7oC on Thursday in towns & cities, sounds great!)

Expect them too start firming up on the finer details of snow nearer the time, a good forecast considering the uncertainty.

The warning is just covering the Meto's back. They have to issue it if there is a risk of snow. Wales and the south west going by the radar are in a better position if any snow does fall as things stand...that precip is not coming inland at all, its just sliding south wards as it comes towards land

Huh me and my big mouth!!! The metomust have heard me :(http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html?day=1 no longer for us here in the northwest.

NW forecast has changed for me. Increased chance of snow from this afternoon?

Not a bad day here considering I'm supposed to have been under moderate ppn all morning!

Temp 5.1c with light SE'ly winds, thin cloud and not a hint of ppn anywhere. Somethings really throwing the radars out.

The sacrifice is coming from wanting the front out west to slip southwards down the Irish Sea and subsequently back into the Atlantic with the scandi-high building above Norway and Sweden. This will then open the floodgates for the second round to -15'c sub 850DAM heights to come flooding in all across the UK, aswell as bringing showers in from the North Sea thanks to the moisture content it still holds despite the low dew points about to come this way.

same here.

it goes with what the GFS snow risk map is saying but completely against MetO and BBC forecasts which show us dry enough for the next 5 days to warrant a hosepipe ban.

Strange, as just North of you on the English borders there are stations reporting sleet and snow.

I don't think the radar is wrong, I just think it's evaporating before it hits the ground, but then you should see the temperature plummeting thanks to evaporative cooling?

I've seen this happen before, but your temperature should 100% be falling.

Very strange, it's bone dry with bright skies! The temp is rising, I have one reading of 5.3c and another of 5.8c.

The showers currently running into the northeast are reliant on SSTs to keep them aloft, could be due to the shallowness in heights thanks to the near proximity of that high pressure build-up. But MetO Surface obs shows a nicely sustained occluded front running down the entire length of the country starting this time tomorrow.

Wow, really?

No idea what's going on here. The radar is still showing moderate precipitation over your area right now.

It's not really fine drizzle is it?

Do you think our chances for snowfall in the next couple of days is above 50%?

As I said it's bone dry, nothing falling at all. Took the dogs out on a walk not a hint of drizzle.

Same here in north Wales - been sat under ppn for hours but it's bone dry. Drove into the middle of north Wales thinking it was because I was on the edge of it, but I didn't see a single flake or drop.
