Im not so happy that the temperature is slowly on the rise, now -0.8C here with light snow and the slightest of coverings.

Problem is we need this front to stall very soon to hold up the warm front behind

otherwise it will be rain all the way from this afternoon

We need the second front to hit us after dark and hopfully the cold front to be right behind it

Still light snow in Cardiff

and I was not expecting that to provide a covering so you never know

Raining more heavily now, bits of hail and sleet mixed in, and temp fallen back slightly to 0.1c (dp -3.3c). It's freezing patchily on impact so may make things slippy for a couple of hours. Not seen freezing rain since the mid to late 90s I don't think.

Snow turning heavier and the road is now completely white, and settling on all surfaces.

It was supposed to revert back to rain during the afternoon, I wonder if this will happen earlier as the front is here earlier.

Rain west of Brecon and snow in Mumbles, Cardiff and Carmarthen? And they say we're renowned for odd weather!

Because the line of attack is NW-SE then the uppers are slightly lower towards the south of wales than the north, seems to be making enough of a difference as in most circumstances it would be the other way around with cold uppers here and Brecon rather than Cardiff/Swansea.

Snowing here again now. Gotta head up to Ebbw Vale now to do some shopping, always worse up there :( Thats the only gutting thing about me moving from there, it can be like a different world 5 miles down the road.

I can also confirm it is snowing in Swansea with some slightly bigger flakes blowing about. Not sticking here though but thats most likely because i am on lower ground.

How long is this likely to last? As forecasted or have things changed because it arrived sooner etc

Shows how important cold uppers are (below -5 850hpa) is to get snow, currently w wales uppers are around 0. The temp outside is -0.5 c and yet its pouring with rain, not even any sleet in it!
