This has been a brilliant event for south west Leicestershire, far exceeding my expectations. I can't remember the last time I saw such sustained snowfall here.

Stopped altogether now, time for the thaw i assume now, when the few inches of snow falls of the bay windowsill i'll know it has begun. :(

Il go by your measurements for tonight lol you sound like your actually measuring properly ive been estimating. based on the fact theres more of the heavier precip to the north west than the south east i think 10cms could easily be achievable.

My neighbour is attempting to get his car out for a take away as "they are not delivering"!! Hope you got your Chinese in...and yes i am doing actual measurements.Sad eh?!

Brilliant stuff.

Although we don't want to get too greedy, the milder air isn't far away....a sudden soaking of rain wouldn't be welcome right now.

All but stopped here.

Final measurement just over 12cm on level surfaces, drifts 1-2ft deep in places.

I left school 5 years ago, but I thought 3cm equated to 1 inch! haha. Blimey, all this from a law student as well.

But 3 x 3 does not equal 11!

Let's just say there's a lot of snow :p

Really huge coin-sized flakes still coming down now. TV reception very glitchy, which is always a tell-tale sign. Temp +0.4, DP 0.0

In just one day, 2012 has already bettered 2011 here.

Sad when you think about it.

Haha I meant anywhere from 3 inches to 11cm of snow depth depending on what part of the road, back garden etc you measure! I thought i'd forgotten what inches were measured in then! Hoping we dont get anymore PPN now beause sleet is currently falling and I can hear a little bit of melting going on.

Dont get me wrong, we have a covering but nothing like the rest of the region...hence the lack of posters from Northants posting at the moment

Very good point, Gord. Apart from whatever slithers of snow were left at the start of last January, 2011 was totally snowless for most Midlanders :(

I actually think our totals wont really be beaten than those in the E thanks to our snow being continuous throughout and no change to rain. Over 10cm im sure here.
