Doesn't feel like a proper snow event unless we get a streamer! - Thames for the Essex/N.Kent/ London crew and Kent streamer for us South coast lot, Clipper for the Hythe to Folkestone crew. Shouldn't grumble as we had great snow last weekend - still a good few inches lying as it's barely got above freezing all week. Yet watching the convection off the North Sea and coming in a line straight towards your house is truly exciting, and we haven't had that (yet).

Just shows what a sad git I've become, I fear.

For me a party popper is normally acceptable - it somehow legitimises the whole snow thing. If I have to I will take one of those small hooters you blow where the air filled paper then uncurls and shoots out to accommpany the horn noise. Mind you, I've never tried a penny whistle or kazoo - any members out there with experience?

Ta

(And you thought you were a sad git!)

my point exactly john. by tomorrow, the MetO could have us under a yellow snow warning-

You have either a massive bladder or a large supply of saffron. Either way, I'm probably quite impressed.

Looks a touch further east on that run. just another 50miles and game on theres nothing in it. very close to another dumping for most of us.

Mr Yamkin, I see you are lurking. Has Croydon been moved 100 miles west to bring it into the snow zone, or does the hot off the presses MO update put you in the firing line even if the Borough stays where it is?

GFS 18Z out to 30 hours and snow risk has already moved west by a good 50 - 100 miles from 12 Z run.

Looks like were sitting this one out guys (at least London Eastwards)

Short term loss, is for a longer term gain. The fact this is much further west is a promising sign.

the GFS also predicted moderate snow for us all day today. don't forget, the models try to predict the weather, they don't control it...

may still shift a bit further east tomorrow morning giving us a bit more. we'll see.

By the way best to stick with the NAE & NNM at this close timeframe.

Does anyone know when the NNM comes out next?

What longer tern gain? More cold like we have now with a lack of precipitation?

NAE also goes for about 1cm across our region tomorrow night at best. Never mind, so we look to the next chance...

Mids look well set for 10cm or so. Good luck to 'em.
