Just heard a rumble here in Sherborne, Dorset...absolutely throwing it down at the moment...feel quite warm but rain is real cold! Is Dorset in for more? Queen is arriving tomorrow morning!!

Very true, in fact you don't need really hot and sticky temperatures to produce the most amazing storms, a myth!

Yeah that lot over Belgium will need a pretty impressive swing if it's going to hit Kesurex! (my mix of Kent/Sussex/Surrey as we either bag it all or nothing!)

Looking good though overall - feels great outside! Lovely and calm and a touch warm and humid! Smashing! Not a lot happening here though at the moment!

Sky seems to be closing in, funny orange look, and it's not the streetlamps as our changed recently to low led lights, which are the white ones... but IOW detector seems to be slowing off....?

Orange sky at night, always a delight!!! Always found orange skies to be a good sign in the past!!! :D

Interesting as ever...but as I suspected our chance (if any) will probably come around 00z onwards...could be a long night for some! Am contemplating going to be about 11 and setting my alarm for say 3am.

Either that or the thatched cottage at the end of the road is on fire.

I should explain, I have a very dry sense of humour....much drier than tonights radar that's for sure!

Some expressed their concerns earlier about the Channel/North Sea killing off storms....I shouldn't worry, a small cell has just popped up over the North Sea, just off the Suffolk/Essex coast, and is gaining strength as it crosses.

That was my fear!!

Unless of course there's a bit westerly push on that area lastminute.com!

Lighting to my north over ipswich way every few mins

Really!? Maybe I should dust off my strike alert!

whats that radio trick? I am going to do that..Bit I forgot it..Atm I got kiss 5h1t playing blum.gif

Put the radio onto AM not FM (has to be an older radio). You will here a very clear/sharp crackle every time there is some electrical activity in the area. Just bear in mind switching on the electric kettle nearby might make it do it good.gif

I wonder what the northern limit will be. Local forecast earlier mentioned possibility of thundery showers clipping into South Yorkshire later tonight, thats not a million miles away from me.

Bugger all for London then

For now, lots brewing over the continent though! Looks at the moment as if the track is for EA, but there's a strong westerly influence.

I really don't think anyone in the far SE corner, including London, can expect much before 00z. I think our earliest shot will be around 1-2 am, unless something fires nearby sooner.

Quite a few flashes in Braintree in the last 10 mins or so...no thunder or rain as yet

Flashes now more frequent and brighter!!! :-)
