no storms, no thunder, no lightning, no MCS, and come to think of it, no money, no hope...the west midlands really sucks.....I'd write a letter of complaint to the met office if I could afford the stamp laugh.png

I'm going to go one better than that AJ. Next time the met office do a forecast and mention the t word repeatedly, and which turns out to be a massively overhyped busted flush, I am going to put my foot through the telly and send them the bill.good.gif

At least you will get some form of thunder and lightning in your own back yard. LOL!

well...it's certainly humid outside, 100% cloud cover..we're now under the influence of some very moist, high theta-w value air, so where as further east and south today good convection and thunderstorm development are forecast, here in the west midlands what is falling out of the sky now could be described as 'convective drizzle'....lol

signs of life now near Cherbourg heading towards the SE....looks very promising indeed for the SE later on today, especially with the possibility of a kent clipper MCS

The place to be, I reckon, is Cambridge, this afternoon ...

post-5986-0-83212500-1340278198_thumb.gi

London doesn't look too sad, either (but not as great as Cambridge) ...

post-5986-0-58554500-1340278287_thumb.gi

Both are dependent on triggers; looks like the SE imports the atmopsheric instability from NE France,

post-5986-0-61110200-1340278433_thumb.gi

Looks like the jet stream passes overhead - so one assumes associated shear,

post-5986-0-62202000-1340278564_thumb.gipost-5986-0-09299300-1340278574_thumb.gi

Got to say, though, I am worried about the trigger ...

Looks very stormy to my SW!

Even though we are not due anything, there are some very heavy pulses moving up.

I cant stand days like this!

Seems to be brightening up outside, really hope the sun can come out soon so some convection can kick off :).

It's really trying hard to brighten up but with real difficulty!

In terms of import chances, there is a bit too much NE shunt on that lot over N France for my liking...may serve well for E Kent/SE coast, but as the storms erupt I think they'll become more susceptible to NE push.

I think we should be prepared for pain later as around 18z onwards sees an explosion of thunderstorm activity a stone's throw from the East coast...mother nature I think will be cruel later!

Yea we just had a torrential downpour of rain for the past 20 or so minutes and it is now drizzling but still fairly humid.Horrible and damp is all I can describe today as.

Well... the cloud tops around Birmingham are begining to convect nicely.

Temps on the up.....and there's enough blue sky to make a sailor a pair of trousers

Still only hitting 12-13c here today and just a dank blanket of miserable drizzle. So annoying....!
