The stuff coming up from the channel doesn't seem to be holding it's intensity again, although i'm sure it'll clip Kent, i suspect the fun & games may start to initiate across Essex, Cambs, Beds, Lincs as the cold front engages with the plume.

radar showing some very heavy storms in the English channel near Hastings looks like it could heading to Kent and the se/east for a noisy evening later

Storm number 1 heading towards us from the SSE of us, it's heading NNW. Pick the kiddies up from school, then go pick up Dell and head out for some chasing! Going to get pretty active soon :)

Few breaks in the clouds now with some brightness trying to appear.

Yep certainly brighter here, but not really going for it sunshine-wise. I don't think I'll bother heading out anywhere as I think main action will be N and W of me and probably not much to write home about!

Storms have exploded off of the Kent coast now, however as I feared are racing NNE and may only clip E Kent.

Nice to see a few kicking off near The Wash...that I fear will be the extent of storm activity tbh (sorry I know it's pessimistic, but its what I feared and it's exactly how its panning out at the moment).

Yet another reminder of why it would be so much better to live on the near continet if you have an interest in storms.....they are so lucky over there!

How ironic the Lightning seems to be just skirting around the coasts of Kent. You couldnt make it up! I seriously believe something has really changed with our summers. Its just not what it used to be when weve had 5 pretty rubbish summers and now were on our way to the 6th poor one so far unless things rapidly change in July!

Nothing of any significance happening round here. Just cloudy with occasional spits and spots of rain, 19C...

I am now at grantham and sunny skies here with towers going up in all directions. I had predicted Spalding to Grantham as a sweet spot today so lets hope i am right so i can get myself some stormage.

Those storms around the Wash may be worth chasing if they are heading north as they will hit Lincolnshire.

Also, anyone know when the CF is expected to hit Lincs area as that could be when things really get going?

There was always quite a high risk they would miss - there were never any certainties!

Our last chance is for the frontal band to ignite now, however there's been little sign of that so far this afternoon!

Not ironic at all, it's just the way the weather works at times.

Just back from Worthing and dark clouds were in my rear view mirror all the way. They've now opened up to some substantial rain but nothing in the way of thunderstorms.

Just caught a quick peek at the ATD detector and those sferics have landed pretty much where all this mornings charts were indicating - well done to science and meteorology again!!!! clapping.gif

Pretty sunny here. Almost dry. Here's hoping all the wet ground is feeding more beefy showers! There are some notably dark clouds about.

All this humidity, lift from the CF advancing, placement of the CF and orographic lift from the Pennines I can see why the Meto have their eyes on us in the northwest. I heard estimates of 80-100mm in places within the 36hour timeframe.
