Yeah, it's been rubbish lately, although weirdly I prefer this summer to last. At least this summer has had notable rain statistics etc. Last summer was the coolest for 18 years, but (imho) the most mediocre in my whole life.

If we get a decent warm spell, in the next 6-7 weeks, I'll be satisfied.biggrin.png

Aye, but it was close, I can tell you. It just seemed to come out of nowhere!shok.gif

I think it came out of those big black clouds I saw..

.we didn't get so much as get a drop here - it's back to blue sky with white clouds and sunshine here now wink.png

Am I reading this wrong (I hope that I am) but where the met office has warnings out for, nothing is kicking off

As a matter of fact there is no rain in these locations with the warning.

I have to look as far west as Wales to see any rain.

So within this Amber warning area where are the storms likely to start off ?

will the rain band from the north travel south or will the rain band in the south move north ?

It's not meant to kick off until late afternoon (6pm) there is still a big IF but hopefully things do start to build soon.

The rain band is meant to sink slowly south late this eve, fizzling out in the early hours.

Perhaps it was an amber warning for dryness....after we have been so used to the rain

Welcome from me too!

I reckon it's worth radar watching from about now. As Paul says though, beware of the big IF.

Sorry to ask a IMBY question, but I don't have a clue when it comes to reading charts! Is south Essex going to get anything? 👊

Well, it looks like this will about the fifth day, out of the last ten, on which washing could have easily been done, dried and put away (possibly even been ironed, outside) - had it not been for the dire predictions of widespread, heavy and thundery downpours...

Once again - so far, anyway - all early signs of potential excitement have disintegrated into a bland nothingness - poof! laugh.png
