One of the days had a mean of -4.0C

I meant for the period before the 24th as we are quite similar to that in synoptic and cold pooling.

7.2C to 20th

Overnight min was 7.3C so a rise to 7.3C is pretty much guaranteed tomorrow, even though it wasn't particularly mild today especially in the afternoon.

Bit of a plunge to come next week, model upgrades of the cold suggest we might fall to quite close to 6C, although the main brunt of the cold is reserved for early December.

Interesting that the Maunder period had some cold November's, especially at the beginning of the period.

Mmm the month is turning out to be a bit milder than I expected.. however, we should see the CET fall slightly in the coming days with a finishing value somewhere around the 6.8 degree mark a strong possibility - so a little above average but not expectionally so.

The lack of cold minima has been the main reason for the slightly milder than normal conditions, maxima have often been near average after the cold first 7 days..

Looking forward to some proper frosty nights as enter December..

Surprisingly maxima is what's keeping this month rather mild;

Mean Maxima 10.5c (+0.7c)

Mean Minima 4.2c (+0.3c)

6.7 - 6.9c a reasonable area to have your guess at the minute.

7.3C to the 23rd

http://www.metoffice..._info_mean.html

Yesterday was 6.7C. Today's minimum is 0.2C, while maxima will be around 8C, so a drop tomorrow to 7.2C is likely.

After that, the 12z GFS has the CET at

7.2C to the 25th (6.6)

7.1C to the 26th (6.2)

7.1C to the 27th (6.5)

7.0C to the 28th (5.0)

6.9C to the 29th (3.1)

6.8C to the 30th (3.1)

I'd say 6.5-6.8C after corrections

A finish of 6.8c would be slightly below the 71-00 (6.9c) and 81-10 (7.1c) averages.

I've gone for 6.3C. Perhaps just a tad too low...?

I think so, what BFTV suggests seams reasonable at just below the 1961-1990 average with the usual corrections downwards

It looks like things may be quite a bit colder than the projected temps of a few days ago. A maximum of just 6 degrees and a frost tonight, and 4 degrees and another frost tomorrow should result in a daily average much lower than those the 12z was predicting a few days ago.

I would guess the daily average would be likely to be nearer 3 or 4 degrees today and 1 or 2 degrees tomorrow, so perhaps a lower finishing point? Should certainly see another below average month!

I am going to be close this month (6.7c) after a poor run lately.

7.1C to the 27th

http://www.metoffice..._info_mean.html

Yesterday was 6.7C. Today's min is 4.4C while maxima were in the 6s, so remaining at 7.1C, with a small chance of dropping to 7.0C tomorrow.

After that, the 12z GFS has the CET at

6.9C to the 29th (2.4)

6.7C to the 30th (2.3)

6.4-6.7C after corrections? 6.6C would be my best guess anyway.

Sunny old Sheffield stuck at 6.5C. Any drop in the day time temp has been countered by milder nights. Although tonight will put a stop to that.

I'm certainly in with a shot this month. Been a while since I've even been close!
