The daily CFS is not bias corrected, so you really do need to watch if regularly and see the biases in there before being able to get any use from it at all. Taking any one run at face value is a total waste of time.

Ah the old "there's berries on the bush" myth. Yeah, it's rubbish. Plants grow based on a good growing season, they don't grow based on future weather events.

Boo - kill joy! Please, allow us to revel in myths and legends, it makes us feel better about the prospects of winter..

I just saw a goose, so I guess winter is coming early.

In that case - Anyone know what side of the tree the moss is growing on? If it grows on the North, winter shall be cold (apparently)

I say, believe what you want regards nature foretelling us what seasonal weather will bring. I for one believe in some weather lore. After all some of the ancients and old farmers did prove right. But not all is true !! Anyway, let's get back on topic......good.gif

hey guys and ladies!

just want to say that what with all the fancy pants technologics going around these day, regarding the weather that is, but i'm a big believer in some of the old "folksy" ways of telling the weather ("i've just sat down and it's started to rain!! typical!!" - a cow) so i've been noticing an over migration of robins and wrens... don't know if this a sign of a cold winter heading over from russia (as that is where most of the winter robins come from.... 'specially the shy ones.) although judging from most of the model runs i have seen, well, it really could do anything!!! but most seem to be trending towards a cold start then leading to a really cold new year and after that.... who cares? hahaha!

p.s. @dan aka wmd - i do like your blog site.... very interesting read :)

love you all!! (in a "cosmic karma" kinda way! :D)

What about an excessive amount of spiders? I might as well dress in a giant fly suit with the amount of webs I walk into on a daily basis!

Surely they'd be migrating to escape the cold, so why would that suggest it will be cold here? surely the opposite? good.gif

More spiders is generally due to a good food supply and plenty of baby making smile.png Higher spider populations in autumn generally follow a good summer, but that doesn't somehow feel right this year.

This topic is stretching ones belief in them being relevant to the thread title. How about some actual meteorology, there is a thread for the things cropping up over the last page or so-please?

this thread might be of interest?

Indeed John, and that is why so many posts have been hidden, after more than polite request to go back to weather discussion. .
