It's -1C here, so fingers crossed. It looks like rain in the borders though.

Edit: They're reporting snow at low levels in the Scottish thread so maybe it's not rain.

Did anyone look at the radar last night? Look at how close the snow showers got! A mile or two offshore?

This is some 5-dayer for the NE!

Headline:

Today:

Apart from an isolated snow shower, a mainly dry, very cold morning with some bright spells. Clouding over thereafter with snow moving in from the north and west later in the afternoon. Some accumulations developing and icy at times. Maximum Temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Very cold with further snowfall during the night, leading to further accumulations and some very icy conditions in many places. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.

Monday:

Cloudy and very cold with further snow probably spreading from the north during the day. Significant accumulations likely in places. Maximum Temperature 1 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday, very cold, bright or sunny intervals and snow showers, some possibly heavy near coasts. Wednesday and Thursday, very cold with a biting northeasterly wind and further snow showers.

Knife-edge synoptics but the bonus is, with the precipitation progged, we would have a hefty amount of snow lying on Thursday if it all goes to plan- so much to decide yet though. Intense! Nowcasting, nowcasting.

NMM has BOTH bands as ALL snow- tomorrow's band turns sleety near the coast or the north of the region- but Tyne and Wear is safe.

The EC hi-res meteogram however has very heavy snow this evening and tomorrow morning, before turning to rain and sleet in the afternoon.

Also- I have to note the NMM showed the convective precip out in the North Sea on Tuesday morning... loaded!

The precipitation is weakening over the borders, I have a feeling this evening could be pretty dry.

They only have meteograms until Tuesday afternoon- 48 hours after the current?

Oh well the long term forecasts then,

What time you reckon for any precipitation to reach us today?

NMM says about 6- so does the Met, I'd probably say around then, maybe before. Hopefully it has some intensity and cold air wrapped into it by then.

Enough to lower the Dewpoint below freezing I hope it's hovering around 1c here
