Another big drop off in tempss it's gone from 5.1c to 3.7c in 10 minutes, windy as well. no showers either so it can't be evaperative cooling. don't know what is going on. all I do know is it is colder than forecast. 3.5c now.

undercutting 850hpa air moving quicker than forecast I would imagine. The LLC nicely spinning as it approaches northern Manchester. We had some hail here a good 30 mins ago but the winds are eerily still as the main front has passed and the LLC approaches vectoring in the undercutting colder air.

Yes I think colder uppers must be moving in quicker but I am surprised this is affecting the temp here as we have a WNW wind strate off the sea that I thought would modify the temps.

No hail just rain showers here atm. Temp/dp at 22:00hrs was 5.3C/3.9C. Now 3.3C/0.7C quite a drop off in the last hour.

Wind gusts up to 23km/h and gusting from the w wsw and sw.

Short, sharp hail showers. Temp dropping right off. Will start to see some more wintryness in these showers soon I would of thought?

Yep there we go. Hail, snow & rain. Great combo with those winds. Looks phenomenal!

Just looked at my weather stations and noticed on the graph the temperature fell 2.0C in the space of 20 minutes, and is not recovering. What happened there?! (was too busy to notice).

Some snow accumulation here at the end of tonight, hopefully with a few more passing showers come the morning there might be a top-up before the sun rises. Cooler 850hpa temps being felt aswell behind the mass of cloud.

Little if any more fell overnight, but nothing has really melted either so now It's a snowy, slushy, icy mess outside.

Certainly not the best of conditions and enough to cause the closure of some local schools including my daughters 6th form.

Current temperature 1.0c and with a breeze blowing, winter has certainly arrived.

It looks like the wrist slashing is well underway in the model thread again this morning although as usual, the same charts show everything from feet of snow to mild and rain dependent on who you listen to.

I'm sure that come tonight, the worst winter in 100 years will be back on track.
