Heavy rain is expected to spread northeastwards across the UK during Friday. The public should be aware of the possibility of local flooding and disruption to travel.

You had icicles! I've only had them once in my adult life, kept one in the freezer.

Morning all.smile.png

In work, after a breakfast of Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Chicken with Spicy Jamaican Curry Sauce – there’s a reason for such a weird breakfast... smile.pngunsure.png

Absolutely filthy drive into work this morning with vehicles recycling the copious salt that’s now on the roads. The worst commute of the season for the road muck. I hope that the predicted 10-13 mm of rain for my location today, from the recent NMM model here, washes most of it away. Interestingly a lot of Kent is expected to have twice my area’s rainfall.

Happy POETS day to you all and have a nice weekend.biggrin.png My Christmas mentality starts for me after daylight hours today, as my local is doing a couple of Christmas functions this weekend.

tomorrow looks horrid

Morning John, morning all!

It certainly looks a bit nasty and the wind has started whipping up already, gusting to 28.0 mph with higher to come. A balmy 7.6°C is a bit of a shock after the last few days!

Rain is on it's way but GFS has it confined to the area around me on the coast at first:

gfs_prec_eur18.png

Then more widely into the North East of our region:

gfs_prec_eur21.png

Here it comes!

I've just been through the convective/TStorm/tornado/gusty wind chances for today here:

A lot of it applies to our region

Yes, must be a reasonable chance for the South Coast area later.biggrin.png

I think all that I might see here would be heat lightning from anything that develops some way offshore, unfortunately.unsure.png

Here is the NMM model predicted rainfall today, until midnight. I've found it to be quite accurate so far, in my limited (six monthslaugh.png ) experience of using it.

I'm pleased at the potential for helical stuff, maybe a rumble of thunder, but this rain coming through is really going to pelt down and I expect some localised flooding around here :(

I really hope it cleans the roads though. The amount of times I had to use the windscreen washer this morning was worrying.ohmy.png Needless to say, I'll be topping up at lunchtime.

I've just eaten a jam doughnut for dessert - someone's birthday here. I've a feeling today isn't going to be too healthy.

It feels like it's about to rain here, but it looks like the main area of rain has just reached a line from Brighton to Swindon, so a bit more waiting I think.
