Heavy snow all the way through Xmas week would be wonderful for 2 reasons:

It makes it extra festive.

I have the week off work so I can actually enjoy it.

I know Ian F has kind of put the kibosh on this particular scenario, but you never know, I nay have been onto something remotely possible, yesterday evening. A continuing trend it is, but we still need it to firm up for a few more days yet.

Too far away to be sure what may happen around the festive period but, it often is a period of great transition, you only have to look back through the archives to confirm such things. acute.gif

Hi all as I thought last night

Moisture being picked up today ahead of the weather coming in later

Giving wintry showers today

At present I have sleet showers

Re ecm I am going to watch strictly now at 120 so I can confirm fax gfs ecm and ensembles

I will do the odd ramp chart of the day to keep the interest going.

Back later with the fax charts

And then I entertained an analysis of yesterday's GFS 12zs.

Who knows, as the date gets nearer or at least, we approach the period of interest, the end of next week could be looking very much different. smiliz39.gif

That scenario would suit me, as I am snow starved, or rather my location is of late. rofl.gif

Probably been noted already but the Gem 00z very similar to the ECM with an E'stly of sorts around the festive period.

ECM not really backed up by its Ens at this stage but plenty of time for that.

And this post from Old Met Man from the MOD thread, only aids to further my interest, into the realms of fantasy island. clapping.gif

When looking East, Steve Murr often uses the ECM ensembles, but here, I will look at the 12z comparisons, not from the ECM but from the GEFS.

Yesterday's T850s and then those of today. Note that the control line is much closer to the mean on today's output, with yesterday's going off on one. rofl.gif

Yesterday's precipitations and then todays.

The cooling trend from the 15th December is undeniable and I would suggest FI is sitting at the 19th December. Whilst, we are dealing with FI, if the trend were to maintain over the next few days then things will get interesting. Taking things literally, a white Xmas in Berlin could be a good bet, but of course with very low confidence at this stage. good.gif

Some very light snow / sleet / something falling. Whatever it is its freezing wen it hits the ground - my path is like an ice rink!

My son was doubly depressed when we left Uxbridge at 8 this evening in 0 degrees and light rain.... all the way down the M25 and up the A3 to Surbiton... still 0 degrees and light drizzle. Don't think he'll get his dreamed of 'snow day' out of that:(

-0.1c AT right now and -0.7c Dewpoint, complete with wet roads outside. I am wondering if I've missed a few flakes now or is it an even worse phenomonen than that, freezing rain. help.gif

Hi Reef

I had the same thing driving home; left the office about 7pm, hit drizzle half way home and it got heavier but refused to turn to snow even at the high point of the journey at 210m despite (i) my imploring and (ii) the gound level temp being 1c, according to the car reading. Still very soggy now, and getting less cold by the hour.

Looks like it could get quite wild tomorrow. Never mind that though, the weather could also be interesting!
