I decided if this is the last day of winter (for now anyway) I better go out and have a lunchtime walk...

The grass still has a thick frosty covering...

...and the canal is frozen....

even though there won't be snow for the time being , looks like good thunderstorm chance for the weekend?

that would lighten up the day! good.gif

Yep, you may need to get over to 'The Bay' and look out to sea:

Jesting aside, glad to see some of you in Kent and the boarders are getting snow, it wasn't in the forecasts or charts really!

Update from Ashford: light stuff slightly heavier, starting to settle on back garden concrete, grass and fence tops!

Not forecast, perhaps the "last hurrah" before the threatened (certain) warm up tomorrow.

Edit: radar shows precisely zip!

Yes, very funny Coast blum.gif

Lovely wintry scene here - snow gently falling with hardly a breath of wind and laying instantly onto the frozen ground.

Just a dusting but a total suprise.

That's 3 days now where snow has fallen ( albeit just small amounts ) here this Dec so not a bad start to Winter.

edit - snow stopped now but lovely whilst it lasted.

Can anybody cast there minds back to the last few winters we have had? Yes they have been very cold to start of with like this one. We need got a mild blip before Christmas just before or after (same as this year) then Jan and Feb bought a lot of snow!

I hate the fact people are getting worked up over this mild blip for 8-10 days. Come on man! Theres like another 81 give or take days left of winter!!!

Well..March the 21st is the first day of spring..If we have not seen no snow by then (I mean proper snow) then we can say winter was mild lol!

What a monster!

Look at all the moisture that's wrapped in it too, you can see why it will be easy to get 20mm, maybe 30mm dumped out of this system tomorrow:

The convective gusts are a little closer now:

gfs_gusts_eur24.png

and look at the mega-shear on my doorstep, eyes to the skies tomorrow for helical activity!!

gfs_stp_eur24.png

gfs_srh_eur24.png

and of course rain..

Should be worth getting down to the seafront to watch the waves at lunchtime:

Last winter was more like a two month mild blip (imby) before we finally got some snow in Feb!

I agree with your optimism tho and we should also remember that snow in our region in December is a lot less common than January so we have our 'best' month yet to come :)

Rumblings of an easterly on the model thread. Deep FI obviously. That's the FI we are told to ignore. Except when it shows an easterly.

Its not that deep in FI only 192 hours away, I think it's a fair bet it comes off biggrin.png
