Whilst most of us are currently mopping up now with the current rainfall we have already causing flooding problems around the South West & Southern counties, the NAE is beginning to model some rather worrying totals for Saturday already;

That looks like a very organised band of heavy rain, and off course, no where for it to go.

I'm afraid GFS is no better and on top of the saturation from the last 24 hours, it doesn't bode too well:

Been raining heavy for last 2 hrs here in Frome but also through the night with some heavier bursts to. Not sure on totals we have, but its not as much as people in Dorset thank goodness. I feel its not over yet with another band forming off the Cornish coast that looks heavy to, whether or not that makes it i`m not sure.

Saturday looks a washout to.

ECMWF rainfall totals over the next 7 days;

post-12721-0-88069400-1356001034_thumb.j

You can see very large totals over the whole of South West England, with Devon & Cornwall exceeding 100mm.

A lot of rain and no doubt a lot of flooding to come.

Well its been raining here for a long time now and had about 20-30mm of rain in 24hours so it doesn't look good and the last thing we need is saturdays rain i feel come then big headlines will hit the news, as long as we live through tomorrow.

Up to 31.4mm in Newbury from this current spell, which is quite a lot given that we are shielded by hills to the south and the north. That takes us up to 900mm for the year

37mm in Southampton since Wednesday evening. Total for the year: 1102mm.

Having a shower before I go out seems a bit of a waste of time!

Not sure of the rainfall totals but it hasn't stopped raining. The cattle grid at the front of the drive has flooded again so the drainage pipe must be blocked again. I have a lovely big pool of water next to it and the grid has disappeared. I also have a moat around the house where the ground dips down. I've been out side shovelling gravel about because we were wading through water just to get to the car.

The lanes around here are starting to get bad, might have to pick my daughter up from school in a tractor later!

There looks like there will be a lull over cornwall for a bit now - but is that another front coming in after?

It looks like there is a wrap-around at the back edge of the rain mass, so a drier spell for southern coastal counties before another spell of rain possible later this evening here.

Rainfall looks to be easing & clearing Cornwall & Devon shortly.

Woah where's that to?

Not quite as much rain as we could have had last night really with light or moderate rain most of the time, and most heavy areas going elsewhere or weakening, and most lighter areas/gaps coming this way. Currently got some light rain again but the stuff to the west looks like coming this way but so far it has been weakening as it does so.

The River Otter is very high, flooding some lower lying parts of the flood plain like it has several times this year, though rivers and especially the smaller streams round here are no where near like what they got to in the November floods as the rain has not been as intense, just persistent mainly.

For some reason the Met Office seem to have removed their warning for Saturday, unless they are replacing or upgrading it?

According to the Met Office invent maps, there could be a "mini squall" line behind the main, more organised band of rainfall tonight across the far South West, with some bright radar returns;
