thanks GTLTW .. Great summary there. On the Wales system at the mo.. Isn't that moving quite quickly in your opinion? It did to me from the radar animation.and which is showing as mainly sleet?

See my radar grab, the uppers are much more favourable where the precipitation is heading for and yes, it is getting a shift on.

I would just like to apologise to Ian F, for my comment earlier. It was not intended to offend. I like the way you present, and prefer forecasters with a bit of personality in any case.

John in Gloucester (Quedgeley - low down)

Thanks for the father/daughter updates! - the more the merrier.

Must say I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread at the mo.

Really quite windy here now - let's hope it blows something my way...

HOLY MOLY!!!! Looking at the 18z GFS, the SW gets up to 37 hours of snow over Friday onwards if it verified! WOW!

Purely by the 18z GFS run, there is a potential significant snow event for Friday into Saturday for many parts of the SW and W country as well as Wales. It does show milder (less cold) air move in Saturday afternoon though so make sure you're up early blum.gif

It's to be taken with a quarry load of salt at the moment though and it will change. Something to keep an eye on later this week for sure. Enjoy any snow you get tonight but i cant stay up..work at 6am.

It was delayed a bit tho and a much better angled undercut a better run so far.

Three nights of rain in a row now, from this so called cold spell! clapping.gif

I feel your pain.

Be positive and you never know what might happen.

BTW its only day one of the cold spell anyway, I think, or is it day two. sorry.gif

Looks like I'm in the firing line here but it hasn't reached here yet. Being low down I'd imagine rain, sleet at a push. Having tech problems so not sure what the temp or dp is.

Some of us are getting snow now! Tbh, I think others are too engrossed with their own weather to care atm!

I'm low down, but managed some good sleet!

Yes I agree :) It's still 5 days until the milder air supposedly sets in so for all we know it could get beaten back again if GFS is overplaying the Lows in the Atlantic..we will see!

Wouldnt give up hope too early peeps. Surely the northern edge is favoured and as it clears through.....?

Dont anyone ask me about 'uppers' - I'm not that learned.

Still appears to be pepping up in the source area mind ?

Maybe those north of Bristol will get surprised later

Maybe those getting rain at the mo will be likewise... ?

Over to the experts !

More sleety here now instead of just rain.
