Brrr, morning all.

My outside digital thermometer reads -7.5 ºC at the mo'.

Clear skies here. Everything white.

Wonder if we'll get much more over Friday and the w/e.

I do worry for outdoor pets and wildlife.

I hope folks UK wide will take heed of the temps and snow forecast.

Feeding/watering the garden birds well, and I shall keep an eye on elderly neighbours too.

I recently found a dead hedgehog in my front garden - not very good at all. Not sure if it was the cold, or whether it just starved. It was there before (before the cold arrived), but I was unsure whether or not I should have disturbed it. If you see a hedgehog in your garden and think it's ill, bring it in and call a carer to look at it. Give it water and cat food, and don't let 'nature run its course'. cray.gif

Awww, I love hedgehogs and they get increasingly scarce in numbers., that is sad to hear.

It's trouble for them when there's a mild interlude in winter and they wake to little food I believe.

Good Morning Temp got down to -5.1 overnight with current temp of -4.1c foggy out side and severe frost

Looking towards Friday charts are still looking good and BBC forecast shows widespread snow across all of our region expect the met office to release some warnings today.

From what i can make of the forecasts GFS is fairly dry but keeps us in the really cold air with daytime maxima barely above freezing. Meto show Snow Friday but turning marginal on the coast and low levels Saturday and Sunday with sleet or rain more likely.

From an IMBY POV I'd take the GFS version!

Met now have a heavy snow symbol for here on Friday. All eyes on the warning update to see if it includes our region.

light snow forecast for here on friday/saturday, would sooner have no snow as long as we keep the colder temps and not the warmer air and rain/sleet

light snow now falling

Walking to work and it is getting noticeably colder. Paths are icy but walk-able and all the snow on the grass is pretty much frozen to a dry crust now.

Be careful out there ppl.

Looking at it i'd be surprised to see much more than light snow friday the fronts losing ground south ...however the bigger picture of this meaning the colder airs stronger to our North East which will hopefully mean as already stated the North sea snow machine will strike up and those glorious lines of showers will drift inland constantly and little features will pop up, nothings concrete and even shifts of relatively small distance will affect what we see and thats changing constantly, heres to sub 0 days from the NE, currently -6 here in Winterton

I don't hold out much hope for the Metoffice. 2 years ago they told us a light 'dusting of snow'. My hubby was trapped in a foot of the stuff on his way home from work. They don't have the best track record for accuracy in my opinion.

Low overnight here of -5.3C, and I'm expecting it to be colder tonight, given that we had freezing fog when I left for work this morning.

Asfor the weekend fun and games, I'd be surprised if at least the western half of the region didn't get some snow out of the frontal band on Friday. Whether it gets as far as the North Sea coast is another matter, and I suspect if it did, it would be light and patchy by the time it got to East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Big GFS upgrade - snow moves across our region uninterrupted.

And appears to stall

Low of -6.8c this morning, currently -4.5c and dropping.

GFS and NAE both say YES to snowfall on Friday. Haven't checked the other models yet...

South Yorkshire & West Yorkshire could do very well from this and as it moves east it may get lighter towards the coast.

Looks really great for our region now with stalling snow.

Look at the tight isobars, blizzards, anyone?!

Yes models much improved for snow with regards to Friday and Saturday (i.e. they have pushed it back east again). However, i would urge a lot of caution as they could just as easily push it back west, so don't get to excited, yet.. :)

Radar showing showers incoming!

Nothing too heavy.

I'm interested to see how Friday and the weekend pans out. I don't really mind how much snow we get (We've still got loads from Monday!). What I really don't want is to lose the cold.

If it's going to be marginal here you can keep it!!
