BBC weather showing continuous light snow from 11am Friday to 12am Saturday night. Is that reliable? Highs of -1 on Friday too! Nice.

At the moment, a period of light to moderate snow is very possible Friday-Saturday.

in all seriousness, someone i know who has had a tortoise for over fifty years said this year tortoise has hibernated as deep as it can go so you can't see it at all.In milder winters it has hibernated before with half its shell still exposed. So maybe it knows something?

It might be just hiding from the Tesco meat buyer's.

I know fridays snow system is a long way off yet but is anyone picking up on the possibility of it stalling around the london area.

Any thoughts on this? Looks like during friday night.

BBC london DOES state it turning to rain although the actual forecast doesn't support this and looks like a older version anyway.

As I am near london I have to use this one as peter is a all time favourite and honest forecaster

Well I had a quick nose in the model thread a lot of the the posters in the west going on about the south & southeast having rain sat, a lot of ramping saying it will pivot and and they will get more also regarding next week we miss they get hit. I don't mind cold but would like to see some laying snow for more then a day.

Well, the horse jokes made me laugh.laugh.pnglaugh.png Better than getting overly stressed with model watching. I see the SE thread were stressing about Peter Cockroft earlier.biggrin.png

There are suggestions it could stall, however, at this stage, I would not advise concentrating on that too much,

I can't see any problems with Friday/Saturday's ppn being rain, the far bigger problem for this area is whether it will reach here at all. Personally I think it will stall to the west and south of our region. The yellow warning pretty much covers the country so cannot be yet said to indicate accurately where the snow will be.

However, the outlook for next week brings many more possibilities for snowfall!

If the SE had a chance of rain then it'd be way higher for the SW. I won't bother going to look at those posts - they seem pointless to me. Edited by Steve C

Lets not forget that London (central) very rarely sees significant lying snow. This is due to the heat affect so unless its -2 or below with low dps it will be sleet for central areas. On sun outskirts will still be fine for snow but central London could have rain.

Still varying timescales for Fri. I've looked at most of the models including high res and it could reach herts anywhere between 6am and 2pm and we could have 2cm or 15cm by sat morning. It will come down to looking at the radar fri morning
