From what I can make out in the Model Forecasting forums there still isnt a great deal of confidence of any heavy snow getting across to Eastern parts.

I hope ive misread what theyre getting at.

Did snow for a couple of hours in central London on Monday but didn't lie.

Tomorrow morning should see some clarity. Many people are harking back to the seventies/eighties and the poor forecasting we saw in those days re eastern progress of fronts against cold blocks. I would be astonished if with the array of computing power available now, the pros couldnt make a very good prediction of how far east the front will get within 24/36 hours of the event.

Tesco's are offloading their burgers dead cheap to local markets. There's bargains to be had but hurry, they're flying out of the stalls

Talking of stalls...let's hope that front stalls right over us and peps us as well! :)

I've been noticing how plentiful the red berries are, both on the bush outside my house and where the smokers congregate at work! I know it's an old wives tale supposedly, but it will be interesting to see if the cold really sets in and those berries begin to disappear. too much of a coincidence?

You can see quite a pronounced pivot there around early Saturday - more snow for this area!

Met office 16-30 for SE / EA may also hint at what we're in for longer term

UK Outlook for Thursday 31 Jan 2013 to Thursday 14 Feb 2013:

Colder than average conditions are favoured across many parts of the UK, especially in the north and east. Whilst there is no strong signal for rainfall patterns through this period, drier than average conditions are more likely in the north, whereas the south may have near or even slightly above average rainfall. The frequency of snow events through this period may be more than experienced so far this winter.

East Midlands

Issued at:1123 on Wed 16 Jan 2013

Valid from:0400 on Fri 18 Jan 2013

Valid to:1800 on Fri 18 Jan 2013

As the weather breaks down, an area of snow looks increasingly likely to spread from the southwest. Winds will strengthen and blizzard conditions are likely, especially over high ground. Accumulations of more than 10-15 cm of snow could well occur quite widely, with the risk of 25 cm or more over high ground.

Clearly there is the potential for some severe disruption, and the public are advised to watch for updates to this warning and to be prepared to alter travel plans.

Yes i know it's the East Midlands,But where not talking Hundreds of miles away,Especially with the wind factor.

All could advance. Tomorrow is crunch time.

God know's why the black back ground wont bugger off.
