Well the latest on the Meto Site leads me to believe they are expecting the Undercut Scenario! Great news for prolonged cold weather and many more chances next week even after this weekend's weather is over and done with

Saturdays is very interesting and looks like they are expecting easterly or North Easterly winds and strong at that!

Issued at: 1141 on Thu 17 Jan 2013

Valid from: 0005 on Sat 19 Jan 2013

Valid to: 1200 on Sun 20 Jan 2013

The band of snow will slowly weaken through Saturday with further accumulations over central areas. Further snow showers will spread into many eastern areas. During the evening ice will form in many areas where there is snow cover, lasting into Sunday morning.

The public are advised to be aware of the continued risk of disruption to transport during this spell of wintry weather.

Louise Lear just stated on News24 that the warnings for Wales area has been upgraded to red - nothing showing on the met site yet though...

It's there now - South Wales around Cardiff area.

Amber Warning of Snow

Valid From 18 Jan 2013, 03:00

Valid To: 18 Jan 2013, 21:00

Issued at - 17 Jan 2013, 12:30

Valid from - 18 Jan 2013, 03:00

Valid to - 18 Jan 2013, 21:00

A band of snow, heavy in places, will spread northeastwards across Wales and the southwestern half of England, during Friday morning, lasting through the afternoon and evening across much of Wales, the Midlands, southern and parts of southeast England. Winds will strengthen, leading to drifting of lying snow.

Many parts of the Red Warning area are likely to have 20-30 cm of snow with strong southeasterly winds causing blizzards, severe drifting of lying snow and thus severe disruption. The public should avoid all non-essential journeys.

Elsewhere, accumulations of more than 5-10 cm of snow will occur quite widely, with 15 cm in some western parts of the Amber area, falling within 3-6 hours. The public should be prepared for disruption, including altering travel plans.

1st of all how can you get bored of snow ..?

2nd yes its been snowing in Thanet, but nothing bloody settles for more than 10 mins then the sun comes out or the temp shoots up and its gone..sad.png .

Proper snow that sticks around for a few days would be good .... Rant over...

True actually!

Perhaps that's why there's a greater proportion of elderly people that retire in the eastern portion of the region;-) the old folk know all about the weather conditions one of reasons my grandad moved to the coast actually he used to hate the snow working on the farms inland!
