very good 12z so far- filled all the gaps in at 24 for the south of the region- it was blank at midday tomorrow- now that initial bank of PPN ( which will have initialised as ACTUAL as opposed to modelled PPN) is sliding along the south nice-

Radar suddenly burst in to life to the west of London, with that band pushing east.

GFS looks to have increased the intensity of the ppn somewhat as far as Friday noon.

Pretty sure Steve M mentioned this in passing yesterday.

Is anyone under the light radar echoes across N/ NW/ SW London that can report. Sure we would've had snow reports by now if there was anything to it.....?

nothing here yet (KT3/SW20 postcode area)

Guys the intensity of the PPN tomorrow isn't going to be the thing greatest thing ever, but its the fact its gunna last a while and every last snowflake will settle. Also, the snow will be quite dry so where as 8mm=8cm in most cases in the UK, tomorrow should be more lik 8mm=12cm.

Hmmm not sure what to make of it.

We seem to lose that decent hook pulse in the early hours of Sat.

It seems we will get it earlier and deeper, definately an upgrade for the East of Kent.

Only down to the model is the PPN intensity seems to have dropped off from what was expected into Saturday but we should have more intense PPN earlier to counter balance it.

12Z does the business.

well we are homing in on 24 hours of snow- light to moderate- 5-10cm- poss a few 15's.

& then whats being missed is the potential from T72-96...

another stab at 5cm across the region-

S

Yep. I'll bank 5-10cm.

Any idea on why we lose that hook pulse of heavier Ppn Steve in the early am Sat?

Too far South?

12z GFS again keeps the snow going through Saturday aswell, albeit becoming lighter and more patchy. Wind doesn't look to be as strong for us as in the west, so don't think we'll see blizzards and much drifting. Will feel cold in the wind off the near continent, temperatures perhaps not getting above 0C all weekend, even in central London.
