On the rain today radar the heavy PPN in the North Sea is pivoting an heading in our direction hopefully this will reach us if it does we could end up with a fair bit of snow.

if you check the european radar at

http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&soort=loop3uur&URL

you can see that there's more PPN to swing around than you think :)

it's not all on the UK only radars yet

Just checked bbc weather forecast for Dodworth, Barnsley. Forecast says heavy snow 2000 tonight to 0400 am tomorrow morning with light snow inbetween. Hoping we get a good enough dumping so Sheffield Hallam is shut tomorrow!

Can we both pray for a snow miracle? I have an exam tomorrow at SHU and I have done VERY little revision! ... C'mon snow! lol

Well it wouldn't surprise me for this area but the fact that it has started with snow flakes I am hopefully that this will continue as things may cool off when the heavier precip gets here. Fingers crossed

LATEST NAE and GFS big upgrade from Peak District northwards and if anything further westwards! Please this one time be right!!

it will adam, look at the radar and flick through the past 2 hours......... watch how the low develops just off the east coast of norfolk, and its all heading our way, it does look like its going to head north up the north sea....it will for a wee while yet untill the easterly winds, which are very strong boot it into our region... as it comes in and bumps into the pennines , there is like a crunch effect in the clouds as they need to rise, congestion if you like , or like a car crash, imagine a crumpled bonnet if you like, has a ripple effect and the end result is heavy ppn of snow , and with the added effect of the wind comming in of the north sea creates convection in the system....

ive put this to my best in laymens terms and hope you understand it .

i think your school will be closed tomorrow blum.gif
