Snow expected to last longer over our region than first thought. Major upgrade for places like south yorkshire.

Forget those totals I gave for your area, you can maybe double it now ; )

Still hoping Leeds isn't too far South/West, if its not then it could be a cracking night with 5-15cms widely for the region (away from immediate coasts or the very far south). Very much a nowcast though.

People use the term 'orographic snowfall' too freely, but tonight pennine areas should see a prime example of that!

I hope this isn't a dig at my super accurate forecast for the other day where 25cm fell widely! LOL

When adam get's loads of snow tonight, I think we should hire a large dump truck and shovel all the snow out of his garden rofl.gif

Temp hit max of 2.3oC this aft

Dropped to 2.1oC and Humidity of 83%

Looking better already

PPn can't seem to get above Nottingham

But out East it seems to be building and pushing around the South East

Fantastic forecast on BBC weather for Leeds. If that came off then 10cms of widespread snow is a possibility.

I know someone said it was pivoting at the wash but looking at the radar for the past 3 hrs or so, can someone explain how it's going to change direction and snake it's way up north? Obviously forecasters are confident it will, but what will trigger this?

My main concern is marginality- the temperature is up at 2.0C here now, and if we get a lot of snow at temperatures above 1C, chances are most of it won't settle. If evaporative cooling comes into play then we could be in for a fair amount though.

Morning all, whats happened? Just dived out of bed to the window expecting MEGA SNOW only to find a 0.1C thaw in full swing shok.gif

What does this mean for York?

it means temps are going to drop, and yorkshire is going to get some realy nice snowfall foe at least 24 hrs , so dont worry good.gif
