Predictable forecasts and snow predictions for here. Looking for some crumbs of comfort but see none. The only way we will get any meaningful precipitation here I am quite sure is when the rain arrives with the breakdown.

Something strange happening temp wise, at 4pm temp was 0.4c now it's 1.5c and my snow continues to thaw.

Stiill -0.8c here, the highest it's been all day but outside it feels strangely damp.

No obvious thawing has taken place, in fact after today's constant swizzle we have about twice as much as at the end of yesterday's epic storm.

As for the next couple of days, the BBC forecast, although not dire for us looks better for most other parts of the UK.

What I find odd is how forecasts are going for temps to fall widely sub zero overnight which I'm sure they would but have they taken the very extensive cloud sheet into consideration? Not hard to look at a satellite image lol

Temp is sitting at 0.9c here with small fluctuations now and again.

Not much of a cold spell really, more like your bog standard average January.

I agree.I really hope this cold spell gains intensity and possibly a more nw element to the winds

I noticed yesterday your temps were higher than other members ..much like mine.I am quite near a town centre though and my location is really low..other parts near here [a mile or so] are colder as I'm sure is the case where you are.

The windchill has dropped from -8C to -2C here. sad.png BBC says there is no thaw in sight we proved they are wrong.

What,is your snow melting?

Melting? It might as well be 20C out there. It's gone from 5-6cm of powdery goodness on the paths to 5-6mm of pure slush!

Been a bit of a let down all round in the North West - almost nothing up here in Cumbria, and even further south the great snow storm turned into a couple of inches, and even that's melting already!?

I have no idea how it melted so quickly, the temperature hasn't been higher than 1C and the ground temperatures are WAY below zero... must be the type of snow?
