Thunder snow on west Dartmoor! Started with rain, then heavy sleet and now heavy snow with a big lightening flash and a roar of thunder as it went from sleet to snow. Dramatic!

Nice!! Where on dartmoor are you??

That I am mate!! Nice living up here.

apologies for the atrocious sentence. I view on full version rather than mobile due to locations, then when I reply my text jumps to about two words to the screen so have no idea what I'm writing.

I'm up near Brentor, near Lydford. My OH works at Two Bridges and we both met while working for the Plume of Feathers! So know P-town relatively well, plus my OH had lived in Princetown all his life till he moved in with me. Anyway, seems to be dying out now out there, fingers crossed for a bit of it settling! Currently 0.5 degrees with a dew point of -1

I've only seen/heard thunder snow once. Didn't even know it existed until a few years ago. Hope you get a good covering.

Is that north towards wilts Ian?

I'm thinking north towards "points west" region tomorrow afternoon/evening. Highlighted by th 18z NAE

But it is definitely an evolving situation right now, with some heavy ppn marching it's way north a little faster than expected.

6 hour NAE already wrong!!

- 2.7 c here, 3miles east of somerton, Somerset. temp has fallen rapidly under clear skies and a good 2 inches of snow cover. First really visible hoar frost for a while!

Still think tomorrow is all to play for, especially later pm as the system mixes in cold air in from the east

Heavy sleet as I drove to pick my brother up from Camelford which had settled on cars and then a flash of lightning on the way back. Very thrilling! :o

No precipitation at all now though and I can see the moon and a few stars :-)

Oh my goodness , when you do a comparison like that , it really is a joke , laughable , this thing is marching its way toward us like its on a mission , and the intensity of it is very intriguing.

So the nae expects it to be off the coast of Cornwall at midnight ? It's a few hundred miles further northeast.

Latest from Ian on twitter Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather

W COUNTRY One last tweet: given showery precipitation is already nearly at Chard up to Taunton, frankly ANYTHING could now happen overnight! also followed by latest mod frames already some way off-base even at 00z. Nowcast gig all-round hereon in...tricky one for the Exeter folk.
