Last METO radar grab, shows ppn losing intensity and breaking up a bit.

Tom.

Next hour is vital if the eastern edge of the precipitation reaches Dunkirk we are all in for a good night. The precipitation will intensify as it travels across the southern North Sea swing anticlockwise around the low and give us our snow. At the moment the distance across the channel is not quite big enough to pick up the moisture.

If only the uppers were a few degrees lower to increase convection we would have a very significant event.

Very light snow here in north east Hampshire. I hope that's not it in terms of accumulation, but I've got a bad feeling. I'm sure some areas nearby will do considerably better.

The snow band is running north west. Look to your South east, not south, thats whats heading towards you.

Really large snowflakes here now in Frimley

Lurker here, and I really love snow, but not when I am at the mercy of southwest trains, they have only today started running our service, live in bagshot, so if snowing in frimley how much do you wanna bet I'm walking home from ascot!!!

and the updated fax gives interest for tomorrow now as well clapping.gif

John is this change because of some secondary feature from tonight's low. I am looking at the radar and sure there is a small secondary low.

Well snow is settling here, it did struggle at first but it does seem to be finally settling fairly well. Intensity I feel is going to be key for the next couple of hours or so as the temps slowly drop away a little from where they are/have been this afternoon. Evap cooling will make a big difference for people nearer the coasts, so abit of a mess down there.

Hi Kold,

Had I waited for the next radar grab, would've been a bit more conservative with that estimate of 10+ cms, you never know though, the night is young. How long is this expected to go on for?

Cheers,

Tom

OMG! What a journey home! Luckily I was going against the queues, but the whole Brighton area is at a standstill. The traffic was queuing into (A23) Brighton from Haywards Heath. If the temperature drops a little and the snow sticks there will be a situation developing tonight. It truly is a nightmare on the roads tonight.
