My thoughts exactly, we have all of Feb and March for snow, I do find it funny how some people seem to think that once we reach the end of Feb that it's all over for snow, especially lying snow, heck we've had snow on the ground here in April before!

Decent snowfall past mid-Feb is not v common in the South. And even less common to lie past a day or two - Yes there's been exceptions, but not that many in my lifetime.

In general another 3 weeks or so before i call it a day re winter.

Funny how the coldest night of the spell (or should I say the one cold night of the spell) is coming right at the end.

Here are some pictures from Vienna of what the cold spell could have been like: http://www.skyscrape...=254887&page=72

This is a freaking amazing time-lapse video, no snow (or very little) but bloody brilliant.

Still a deep blanket of snow above 150 meters in Stroud, although at lower levels It's disappearing. But with the depth of the drifts on the hills I will be really interested to see how long they last.

Days or weeks, not sure, it is not something I have really seen before. I might start a drift watch or something, see how long the snow patches will remain once the milder air comes in, probably be down to how much rain we get though.

My first green walk into Downton this morning, which was a bit sad. Spooked a Barn Owl down by the river that was far too quick for me to snap, but a break in the clouds gave a decent sunrise over St Laurence Church.

Just back from what will probably be my last bit of sledging on Filton golf course with the kids for a while.

Hardly any melt up there, and really is pretty deep still in the drifts.

The snow was noticeably getting crustier, and therefore better for sledging while we were up there & only came back because it was too dark!

Still got my trusty old school wooden sledge with metal runners from when I was a kid, which was a long time ago & it's still going strong. Puts all those plastic ones to shame haha!

Good times! 'Er indoors would've loved it (had she not been taken away from us far too young).

Temp currently -2.8

Guessing we should get our lowest temp of the winter tonight

£300 worth of equipment. So there's no probs with the wireless signal going thru the wall of the house to outside then?

Well, cold spell nearing the end.

Lying snow now for past 7 days.

At least 5 days out of 7 day snow fell in varying amounts.

Not a bad spell and still time for another this winter.
