The slight clearance has enabled me to see the vigorous cloud movement that was blotted out by rainfall all day . The clouds are racing from the Bristol Channel on gale force winds :!: . Some serious gusts going on :shock: . We've had to weight down the patio chairs and table :lol:

A few light showers left but there was a lot of rain during the day.

im slightly north and east of morecambe and weve had nothing here. just grey skies since mid afternoon.. no rain either ..

Conditions in Lancaster have been identical. It appears that Morecambe Bay (and indeed this whole area of the Irish Sea) got trapped in the "eye" of the low as the convection got going, creating a circle of dry weather in this area. The convection was diverted east through Wales and central/southern England, northwards through central/eastern parts of northern England, and then seemed to stall over Cumbria.

From what I can see from the radar, the cloud producing the storm did reach Lancaster- but by the time it did, it failed to produce anything more than a little drizzle.

That said, it looks like my home region of Tyneside missed out as well, due to North Sea influence.
