I will bank the 18z GFS for even for the far West of the region even after 130 odd hrs, -15c uppers could be smashing through the pennines as if they are not there.

Maybe not -15 but below -10, 80's run guaranteed here, pennines buried under feet of the stuff.

Gorgeous morning again, got down as low as -2.4c around 6am. Hard to believe it could be the warmest day of the year!

Met Office website says it was -4.0C at 6am here, doubt it!

Another sunny day though. :D

Why?

Why wasn't it -4C? Because none of the stations around here got below -1C...

Hawarden was -4C but it's a very well known frost hollow and nowhere in the local vicinity acts like a frost hollow excepts parts of south Wirral/Northeast Cheshire and of course Deeside (Wales)

Hawarden was -2.3°C at 6am with a minimum of -2.8°C but reached -2.9°C at 7am.

Rostherne near Knutsford was -3.7°C at 6am with a minimum of -3.9°C so it is more likely that this station was used.

if the ECM verifies next week will be cold.gif with a high chance of snow for parts of the region, this all after a high of 13.4c this afternoon

will be struggling to reach 3c in 7 days times if the GFS and ECM verifies

C.S

Good god the ECM at T192 is an insane chart for mid March

Well March 2012 saw that years summer so March 2013 being this years winter probably wouldn't be that surprising.

It would be a bit ironic though when after a 3 month failure of models to verify they decide to do so just at a time when they will be wasted by the time of year.

Personally I want warmer weather now but I'll take a deep blast of cold and heavy snow if it's on offer.

My colleague left home in Warrington with it -2.5C at around 6.45am.

Warrington is always colder at night usually than here, unsure why but we never even achieved -1C here!

-12c uppers across a large part of the region and -14c into the pennines with a potentially unstable floww and potentially developing shortwaves, only one thing that means - a pennine burial job.

FWIW at the moment though, i am not convinced of the more extreme outcomes and this may well end up better for the South East than our region, that trend already been happening on the GFS yesterday although a better 0z run.

A fairly settled and dry few weeks of weather coming to an end today by the looks of it. Very little rainfall for around 4 weeks here now, but there are still pools of water scattered around in the fields, evidence of just how wet it has been.

On the upcoming cold spell, can't see past dry cold and sunny for here. Get the next few days out of the way, and there looks to be a continuation of the below average rainfall for us with an easterly element to the wind. Models don't yet agree though and the ukmet are still not going with the armageddon charts being shown by the GFS.

There's been some cracking weather these last few weeks. I've recorded more frosts and cold temps during this spell than the rest of winter put together. Next weeks cold spell will hopefully bring more in the way of sunshine and frosty nights, hopefully we won't see those horrid grey laden skies which dominated much of this winter.

Personally i would love to see those grey skies as long as we get buried!!

Will reserve judgement until after the ECM 12z,however one thing certain,it is not going to feel spring

like, one final point if you are looking for snow, and i appreciate some folk are not, nothing will be resolved

in snow terms for a few days yet.

C.S

Edit

Crewe Cold if this comes of,a big pat on the back for you,as i recall you called this weeks back

UKMO has given credence to my earlier point that this may be sqeeezed into a South East event, UKMO a non event for here, not even all that cold.

What a difference a day makes. Warm, spring like sunny weather yesterday, replaced with murky, grey skies and light spots of rain today - and even though the temeperature difference is only 8 degrees down on yesterday it feels like 20 degrees less!

I see winter may not be over yet with next week looking cold, although I'm only popping in here every other day or so, so it will be a surprise if anything wintry creeps up unexpected. The 7 day pre-build up, following final 24hr turn-back and forum let down is non-existant now because the majority of winter folks have left.
