I can verify that we've just had two moderate snow/soft hail showers here. It's 4.4C with a DP of -3C.

anyone inbetween st helens and liverpool verify whats happening. SOme heavy clouds and it looks like something is either falling from the sky or being pulled up.!!

Basically it's just the sun shining on the cloud as it's dropping precipitation. Very common in heavy showers from the Irish Sea as they will mostly always be formed from convection. ESPECIALLY when it's hail.

Showers likely to die out now that the sun has gone down. We've lost the solar heating so expect skies to readily clear once this last lot comes through, temperatures down to -4C/-5C widely.

Glad I missed the showers today, the day was a bobby dazzler all timed for my day off work! - lovely spells of spring warmth with clean air. Got a bit nippy when sun went behind the clouds but this was more exception than rule. After Monday's invasive, almost downright agressive onslaught of bitter weather, everything seems relative now with regards to cold lol

Now what's the when/how and were for spotting this comet - because it's clear skies out to the west.

2.4c not dropping as fast now

1.9c must of been patchy cloud keeping the temp steady before

you seem to be basing that on GFS FI, which, last night was showing an FI freeze !

no I was just basing it off, the more realistic accu forecast beyond next week. It has been changing somewhat , with lower temperatures for the past week. But they seem pretty much stuck to their guns, so I guess anything can happen. When at this time of year, the mild as a unique way of finding its way in here, although I confess, that looking at the second week, it does seem a little over the top, but you never know they could be right. They haven't been wrong for my post code all winter long.

Around 20 minutes ago the temp was -2.4c, now it's rose to 0.8c. I'm getting quite excited about the out put for next week, we could be looking at a big snow event here in the NW.

You can tell when snow prospects are looking good for the NW, when our southern contingent in the MOD thread are disappointed in the output. Game on next week I'd say.

Too early IMO to be calling game on for next week. Certain degree of marginality involved, for the usual areas it is looking ok at the moment, as is always the case the further west you are for snow anyway it isn't looking interesting at the moment.
