I have to say nature is doing its best to try and give us one last shot here, considering this location was pretty much outside the zone. The sporadic flakes throughout much of the day have now increased to light snow, and it is giving a dusting on some surfaces. Very slight, but better than I was expecting.

Could someone explain what the 'convective inhibition' overlay is all about on the NW radar? Thanks good.gif

Bring back 1960s' winters I say. Snowflakes were the size of half-crowns, back when ah were a lud!blum.gif

I, those were the days when you could say that snowflake is the size of your threepenny bits and not get arrestedgood.gif

if we could get a little bit of heat from the high pressure over us

then that lot travelling down from the north could cause some

real unstable air due to a big temperature difference

dare i say thundersnow

long way off but worth a watch

snow is a little heavier here now

although that could not be difficult rofl.gif

Got it landing on car roofs here at last lol, still probably just go back to that slow stuff that doesn't show up on radar soon. ps according to the met office kenly had sleet in the last hour, think it must be broken lol. Mist before that.

Thanks for sharing your miserableness with us all evening.

Personally, whereas I would prefer snow, I love the fact that we are seeing 3-4 days of the -10ºC 850 isotherm over us. Loving the graupel - it beats murky mild drizzle any day!

I would hardly call it miserable. Simply a statement of fact. Awful winter for my neck of the woods. Now I want to see some interesting spring and summer weather.

Typical. Maidstone getting heavy now!!

It only needs a MetO warning for impending earthquakes now then?

Must be heading for where ever the convergence zone is at the moment, can't think of another reason, seems strange tbh.

Thanks for the heads up, checked out the front and sure enough, snow grains on the car bonnet, cheered me up no end, a fitting reward for the hours of squinting at dark bushes, hard focusing in mid air and staring at the dim garden lamp. Was just about to give up:)
