Well I'm astonished the met office haven't issued further warnings for today

We've had frequent snow showers on and off all morning here

if it was down south they would be an amber warning out, looking at that long line of showers about to hit teesside and here

It would appear from the reports on here most of the snow has been in the south of the region I said yesterday some areas would get hit whilst others would miss out and this appears to be the case

North easterly wind the south of the region gets hit

South easterly wind the north of the region gets hit

Full on Easterly we all get hit

if it was down south they would be an amber warning out, looking at that long line of showers about to hit teesside and here

Indeed look at the red warning for Wales that time places up here got more snow but we only got an amber warning

Plenty more snow showers to come yet for the south of the region

Quite a wintry update from the met-office today.

UK Outlook for Saturday 16 Mar 2013 to Monday 25 Mar 2013:

Conditions this weekend and next week are set to remain unsettled and on the cold side for March. Cloud, rain and hill snow expected over much of the UK to begin with will slowly clear allowing brighter but showery conditions to follow for later Saturday and Sunday. Some of these showers could be heavy and wintry. Often rather cloudy next week with further spells of rain or snow. Some heavy rain is likely at times, whilst northern, eastern and central parts have the greatest chance of any snow. Temperatures remaining below average; nights often cold and frosty with icy patches, feeling cold by day, especially over northern Britain where it will often be windy. Looking beyond next week, conditions are expected to remain unsettled with below average temperatures.

Indeed milder weather is going to be late in arriving this year hopefully this will follow 2006 in bringing a proper summer

Shower about to hit middlesbrough, looks really dark so we shall see what comes out of this. Most snow has melted now.

Yea its a good shower. Snow blowing around in the wind and visability is low. Not bad.

Wish these showers would last longer would be fun and games then.

Getting longer sunny periods now which is giving the sun time to get to work on melting the snow lots of dripping out there now

All very disappointing.

Can't think of the last time we had a blizzard like the S coast/channel isles are getting TBH. We do seem to have missed out on all the spectacular events this winter.

Have the winds swung round to a more E'ly direction on the radar recently?

It does look like it has and looking outside the clouds indicate this to.

That big lump of showers now looks like heading northwards if it continues.

The extended radar suggests the snow is coming to an end in around 45 minutes not much in the north sea now

if so, is that good for the whole region?

Just have a look at the radar and you can judge for yourself. Better for Durham which looked like missing everything.

Gavin - I've already said, the extended radar is a complete waste of time. Don't bother even looking at it.
