An I right in thinking that more showers will form into the afternoon due to better convection?

The wind source is going to turn more northerly throughout today so that will limit the showers to northern areas and down the east coast.

There maybe a stray shower or two that make it into our area, but nothing like yesterday.

I wouldn't expect too much as the day progresses for us, cold and sunny more likely, but you never know.

Well what a nice surprise! After half an hour of moderate snow and the temperature still well below freezing, everything in Patchway is now white!

Blue sky, sun shining and now if the wind would sod off and the temperature would go up by 15 or so degrees I would be a happy bunny. Just gone up above freezing to .3c with a nice -8c windchill.

Yeah it's snowing but not that heavy, about 5p flakes at best but it is settling as the ground is so cold, still proper powdery snow too which is nice.

Tiny patches of white on the ground, just 1 heavy shower for 10 minutes and it would turn everything white!

Yes those channel island folk won't have any reason to moan next winter if they miss any snow lol :p not after what they've just experienced, a 24h+ blizzard! I've been waiting over 31 years for that to happen imby and the wait continues! Dec 81 is the closest we've ever come close to what they've just experienced.

And still experiencing. Heavy drifting snow still falling, temp -0.9c with comparisons being made to 1979.
