Sound travels at 1000 feet a second or around 300-400 metres. So every 3 seconds is about a mile :)

All them years thinking 1pink elephant was 1 mile? Lmao

Had no thunder and lightning here I seem to be in the dry spot lol

Dry thunder and lightning the worst.

That horrible crack.rumbles are bad enough but that real electric crack is mad.

I think that's more common when it's dry before the rain comes down?am I right?

I love dry thunderstorms, I've seen loads of them on youtube, where the storm is directly overhead but there's is no rain at all...mad!

"Mississippi 1, Mississippi 2, Mississippi 3, Mississippi 4", spoken out loud, not slowly but not gabbling either equals about 4 seconds, i.e. 1 mile.

ecm at 96

ECM1-96.GIF?16-0

ECM0-96.GIF?16-0

ECM101-96.GIF?16-0

these look the same

on first look

assuming we get precipitation

which there is a weather front pretty close

under an easterly flow and 528 dam air and around -8 uppers

snow cannot be ruled out

expect changes but looks interesting at present

Most models suggesting a front moving W/SW on Tuesday which will bring cloud and drizzle initially but could turn to snow on the back edge, as cold air undecuts from the NE, even for us in the SE - though amounts looks to be small and may struggle to settle. After that, look fairly dry and cold for us, though perhaps with the odd flurry at times.

thats the one alexis

see the ensembles

MT8_London_ens.png

i would call fi as the 21st at present

also look at the 25th on

we either freeze or get out the t shirts out rofl.gif

the main concern is the constant high rate of precipitation showing

basically the charts are rubbish at undercut situation

just a note the fax at 120 does match with ecm but we will need a lot more runs yet

probably wont know until monday evening

keeps the interest going smile.png

Hi JP. Radar looking interesting now, especially around southern sections of the M25, moving pretty fast as well.

An unpleasant rain/sleet mix here now.

Yellow Warning of Snow for London & South East England :

Oxfordshire & Hampshire

Rain is likely to turn to snow in places this morning, bringing the risk of temporary accumulations of 3-7 cm, especially on hills. Rain and snow will ease from the south later this morning. The public are advised to be aware of this wintry hazard.

Issued at:

0333 on Sun 17 Mar 2013

Valid from:

0600 on Sun 17 Mar 2013

Valid to:

1200 on Sun 17 Mar 2013

A small depression coming off the English Channel will bring some heavy rain across the area, which will fall into cold air as it comes inland. This will give the risk of settling snow, though with marked variations in amounts from place to place. There is also a risk of heavy hail temporarily lying on road surfaces leading to slippery conditions.
