Ah well, it was fun whilst it lasted, but rules is rules and it did generate more than one report.

So, is there any chance of a last minute change for this snow? The enormous amounts in the Channel Isles were forecast to be further North, right up until the last minute when it all stayed further South. Any chance of the same thing happening again? Will the cold undercut further South?

Always a chance, especially to the north and east of the region, a very outside sniff in BANES, slightly more chance in Wilts/Gloucs, more likely in Oxon/Berks....still, we live in hope....a small shift southwards would bring those regions into play smile.png

Time for a radar post!

The heavier PPN is creeping in to Cornwall and Devon now, on what looks to be a north west movement.

Looking at the 700hPa vorticity charts, a large area of strong to vortmax PVA will be covering a large part of the south west between 6pm and midnight, so rainfall will really ramp up then, i would have thought the radar returns will look rather bright?!

Perfect for my short walk to the pub later this evening. biggrin.png

If only it was snow!

That depends on whether we (The South West) get some weather thats better than the north. If we dont then you can expect to hear from me again. tease.gif

Another +1 from me for that warning chart Karl83 clapping.gif !!

I think the 2nd more active front coming in now will kick the 1st one into a quicker advancement NE.

Does anyone know if we have any hope of seeing snow in our region??

There is hope if you live north of the M4 broadly in our region on Saturday morning.

I live in hope that my elevation can throw a spanner in works for once this year and give me a covering air_kiss.gif

Saying that it really would not require much of a shift to bring a fair few of us into the action.. baby steps... tease.gif

We will find out at 21:30 and 03:30 if it is a one off or the start of a southward push.

If it moves it back northwards then no but if its a southward shift again I might be tempted to just wake up and take a peak good.gif

Did anyone see the news? They were talking to Paul Hudson who was showing the Met Office accumulations maps, there was a massive empty hole in the snow area, around where i put the circle. It showed hardly any precip at all, i'd feel for those living there if it happened.

The cold downward Spiral. Using Bristol as an example, although the broad trend is the same anywhere across the region, detail aside. The Upper air temperature as per the ECM,

Topography is to blame for that - my Geography isnt perfect but pretty sure its the Pennines doing there thing, with good support for much less ppn or a ppn 'shadow' over Manchester
