a sight to behold

a single white snowflake

lonely and bold

oh get out your camera

that's something so rare

a beautiful snowflake

but no snowflake was captured

the photo was bare

yet it lives on in memory

I did a chemistry degree and not an English one for a reason

Safe to say it would have been more embarrassing than the radar forecasts

this is what the fax chart showed for today

a dieing front over the south east

this is what happened

so no snow

now it shows this for tomorrow

however the dieing front would not have effected us anyway

still very cold easterly winds

dry

temps around 1-2 but feeling bitter in the wind

tuesday night

bitter easterly wind

still dry

frost and ice possible but should be restricted due to the wind

temps around -1 to areas shielded from the wind -5 or lower

wednesday

still a bitter easterly

not as strong thankfully but still cold

tmps around 2-3 degrees

there is a chance of some showers being driven in from the east

be a look out the window day

wednesday night

easterly flow but not as strong

could be some very low temperatures tonight

and potential again for some showers from the east (low risk as weaker flow)

thursday

very cold again

east to north east flow

trough close enough to generate some snow showers to persistant snow

areas and amounts too early to call

thursday night same as above

only going to post friday and saturday for now

expect changes

more on friday and saturday tomorrow

one thing to note

saturdays chart has the cold air well and truely still here

Hi John, amazingly cold run from UKMO, easterly all the way to 144 with lower pressure close to south particularly over the weekend & a channel low thrown in for fun at the end, just waiting to see what ECM comes up with?

Specifically, "Paul Mott, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said that while most areas will have a lot of drier weather throughout the rest of the week, the cold will be here for the foreseeable future.

"Where there is a lot of snow lying on the ground we should see a slow thaw by the end of the week, with temperatures creeping up to 4C or 5C (39F or 41F) during the days by about Friday," Mr Mott said."

Although my weather knowledge is restricted to looking at pretty charts, trying to work them out and then going with instinct instead, the above appears to be a pretty bold claim considering the charts we've been seeing.

Can`t say my extremities are enjoying the cold this week,at least they`ll get a break over Easter,but only if i stay cuddled to the radiator.
