Heavy returns between Leyburn, North Yorkshire and the Lake District but it could be anaprop as looks suspect. Having said that, running the radar over time shows it develops and is moving so unlikely to be the case.

30c now at Heathrow... hottest day of the year so far then.

Temp and dp currently 28/15 here with cumulus building all around. It feels hot outside and I would imagine I may be in a well positioned place for this afternoon/evening. Possibly may need to travel slightly east, maybe locate myself near the M1/A610 for a good north to south or west to east route.

Currently hanging fire to see what looks to develop.

Good luck to you today

Streams are almost spot on with convergence.

PPN showing something later and with that kinda cape something could really pop up.

Estofex show a good risk in the same areas so im sure someone will be happy!

Very much a central / eastern event ( if any )

OMG, surely it can't happen in my patch. I often make the assumption that one should follow the heat when looking for storms on days like these. Given that I'm currently at 30.3c (non-officially one of the hottest locations right now), I may be in with a decent shout. All this going against my instinct from a couple of days back when I thought things looked utter pants. You naughty boy Lynxus, you've got my hopes up. Posted Image

Looks like we may have a line of heavy showers breaking out over northern England at the moment. Some attempts of tower building here going on but nothing drastic.

29.9c here if my weather station is accurite lol, Small convective stuff starting to show but not holding much hope for my storm starved town. Might take a drive up north if anything does pop up in that direction. Fingers crossed everyone!

Thank you and yourself too. I suspect Leeds may also be in with a chance as you are along the same convergence zone I will be under. There are already some heavy showers breaking out across North Yorkshire and that area should move southwards.

Edit: Intensifying rapidly too with some very heavy localised downpours. I expect sferics in that line very soon

Started to haze over here now, typical, I've just turned over to toast my back and the sun is less torchworthy.Anyway, 29.5c here according to the netatmo, which has also chucked in thunderstorm alert for this eve. Cape certainly looks juicy, and now a bit of a breeze has picked up from the river.....

You will still burn through haze / clouds! careful....

Still early and some good CU building in places now. I suspect if nothing happens by 18:00 then nothing will as its a little on the marginal side..

If we do get good ignition then with the Cape & Lifted that is about then we may end up with a good storm or two..

Not sure what the CIN is like today ( havent looked ) but it doesnt 'feel' very capped compared to normal storm days.

Well it's never me, that's for sure!

They're always focussed on the east just lately.

First lightning recorded on the radar and by my detectors. I suspect everything will slide to the east of me if any make this far though. But something of interest in this horrible heat.

Not forgetting with instances like these initially forcing can occur from storms already in-progress especially downwind within outflow areas, so still a while yet to go before things get a little more clarity.

As in daughter cells, SJ? Posted Image

I remember in years past, watching a whole procession of storms kicking off to my East from mid-afternoon onwards and they were still producing lightning as it got dark. Oh, for those days to return. Posted Image

Does anyone have an early warning storm detector? I mean a dog!!

My poor old pooch would know hours in advance of a storm, nowadays I have to resort to radar watching!

Temp here 28°c and 51% humidity and my weather station is suggesting rain!

Well seeing as winds here are blowing from the Liverpool Bay area, I'll safely say 'never' for today :p
