Well then, absolutely sod all in terms of electrical activity, but plenty of rain...So that's one thing sorted...

It appears the lightning and thunder is in the western band.

Epic cross model failure

Huh?? The MO seem to have recently stuck a thunder symbol on their forecast starting at 10.00 for my area - it's just stopped raining! Interesting - the plot thickens.

May be they're back-peddling to catch up with earlier developments (i.e. the two lightnings!)

Always tomorrow, potential probably even better than today for quite a few - getting wound up over French imports is one thing, not knowing where a homegrown pops is another? Bit of sun, more warmth and the blue touch paper shall be lit.

This thread is hilarious - never have I seen so much moaning and despair on a single thread.

you've never read the model output discussion in winter chasing the phantom easterly then....makes this thread look like a meeting for eternal optimists!

It could be that the storms really get going further north, maybe the NE later?

Getting used to disappointment from met office weather forecasts - i've yet to see a weather warning actually happen as forecast.  Think i'll just give up watching the weather and assume each day that nothing is going to happen in Norwich.  And before anyone says it's on it way, it will split down the middle as it always does and allow Norwich to pass straight through unharmed. Posted Image

Pretty much thundery rain in association with pulse-cells embedded within this LLC, expect to see sporadic lightning becoming localised as individual cells emerge and then die off just as rapidly.

Yes, that is true. Nothing good ever happens here, it's the worst place in the world!

Ok, first post, so be easy on me. Been watching this thread (and others on previous days) with great interest. Currently we have.. reasonably heavy rain in Cambridge, though it doesn't look like its going to last long. I was really looking forward to another Monday night/Tuesday morning, but, alas, I guess that's not going to happen. I really don't know what has happened to the t-storms of my childhood. They just don't happen any more. Last decent t-storm I witnessed was back in 91 in Miami.. Sad really. Here's to hoping tomorrow and Monday brings better luck for you all. Though not here.. Home grown t-storms in Cambridge are rare these days.

Chucked it down for about 30 minutes. Now just wet. Piffle. Not a rumble.

Sferic activity had increased again with some quite strong and close once as well, but now nothing for a few minutes again.

One fairly distant but long sferic just then, woah and a strong closer one then as I type. Moderate rain here.
