Currently 14C but the rain is coming to a drizzly close here, 15.2mm has fallen though! It should get up to 16 or perhaps 17C when the cloud clears and the sunshine breaks through.

Could end up being a pleasant end to the day for western areas, meanwhile though - what a miserable day!

The rainfall should clear through most of the region by lunchtime so it might be possible for an afternoons work, in sunny but breezy skies. (If your job allows that of course).Moderate rainfall here now in a cool breeze. Rainband already clearing Cornwall though.

A proper day of 2 halves! And I have been out to do a few hours work, drove to my destination as the rain was clearing! My reticence was that rain bands can be slow to clear through, so I expected the forecast midday clearance to become more like 15.00!

Interesting cluster of showers out in the Atlantic near Ireland heading east towards the Bristol Channel.

Some strikes recorded within the mass. Wonder if they will continue overnight towards the South West.

Hello all hoping someone could point me in the direction of a half decent weather station. I purchased a simple weather station (inside/outside temps / pressure / humidity) about 4 years ago to coincide with the return of proper winters but now I feel its time to go a bit further up the scale. Anyone recommend a weather station for around £120 capable of recording wind speed and rain amounts as well as the a fore mentioned?

Cheers all

Was very warm today in Camborne for the time of year, just checking in for the Winter season, hope it'll be a lot better than the last couple of years in the far South West, we deserve it.

It does feel "toasty" for October, and very pleasant it is too, mind you early suggestions for the weekend does mean we will be able to make the best of this warm weather

I forgot about the probability of a Bristol Channel streamer today, shows how few unsettled periods we have had this last 3 or 4 months!

Anyway, one set up this morning from 08.30 and has just about died off now. I was working in Trowbridge and catching showery drizzle at the edge while it was clearly raining heavily towards Bradford On Avon. Throughout the morning the sky was mostly clear to the South and a slight shift in wind direction soon after 11.00 pushed the shower line Northwards and gave arm sun in Trowbridge.

Fascinating to observe and only a narrow strip of our region affected.

On Tuesday current thinking is that it will be a very windy and showery day with some heavy showers driven on by a near gale SW wind. A few brighter intervals are possible too.
