Happy Birthday Steve and Tom.
I hope you both have had great days!

Currently 16.6c, the sky looks like its threaterning to rain! Felt wonderful sleeping in my own bed last night.

Since halloween is coming up I thought I would practice my pumpkin carving skills with this:
Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I had to draw it from scratch as I couldn't find a good enough stencil.

Happy Birthday Tom ( Jarvis ). Posted Image

It's incredibly mild here this evening, 17.6c at 6pm which is the highest it's been all day. The grey blanket of gloom has no doubt acted as an insulator, though not the most inspiring of days by any stretch of the imagination. Hope everyone has survived Monday as best they can.Posted Image

It stayed dry this evening whilst out doing my rounds at the shops.  Very mild too, 17oC in late Oct is quite unusual IIRC.

Hope you've had a good day too Tom :-)I've had a lovely unbirthday (yes there was cake) despite the most miserable weather - thankfully I was indoors for most of the day and tomorrow we will be in Xscape and Cineworld if it's this wet !

Its nearly 8pm on a late October day and we have a temperature of 17.5c. Been a day of heavy rain on/off. That wind has really intensified through the day, roaring now.

Hope, an olive branch, maybe a rest-bite from the relentless wind and rain

Nice to see and I hope it comes of but a Scandi high in November is as rare as a tits on a fish.

Some clear spells at moment. While west of here have seen showers/ pretty much all afternoon . A rather dry and mild evening for Eastern areas then.

Hello everyone,

Very grey and rainy morning turned into a brighter, non-descriptive warmish afternoon. Still pleasant though.

Happy birthday to you Steve and Tom Posted Image

Hi Jan,

Hope you're ok, how is it there down on the Nursery slopes? Posted Image

Evening all, and happy birthday Steve C and Tom, hope you have had a lovely day!

I'm currently feeling like crap and am off work - not looking too good for tomorrow either, especially now mini raven has taken a bucket to her bedside tonight!

Weather has been pretty non-script today - dry and mild.

So what does everyone think about the storm that is predicted in FL on the 28th/29th?

I'm too busy worrying about the apocalyptic weather next week that the Express has headlined for the UK, apparently we are going to get "relentless rainstorms and terrifying winds" *rolls eyes and sniggers*

now when we get to the afternoon-evening

feeling humid

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted Image

wednesday

a more westerly flow and still fairly noticeable

temps

Posted Image

14-16 degrees and maybe a shade lower to the north of the region

after early morning heavy rain

we will see some heavy showers but will start to clear as we head towards the evening

------------------------------------------------------------------

wednesday night looks dry and possibly foggy

will feel a lot colder than of late

somewhere around 6-8 degrees

--------------------------------------------------

Posted Image

a weak southerly flow

hi eja

keep watching the charts as this will need watching

however the jet will be the main thing to watch here

if it shows the southerly track

in the more reliable timeframe

like this

Posted Image

Posted Image

and this low is still showing

Posted Image

Posted Image

when the fax comes into the timeframe which will be 3 or 4 days away

i would be concerned as well

but at present i would not worry about it for now

friday

a weak south westerly flow but getting gusty in the afternoon

starts dry

however heavy rain enroute before lunchtime for most

temps 12-14 degrees but feeling cooler when the rain arrives

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted Image

saturday

a north westerly flow

looks like some light showers around but nothing heavy at present

temps around 12-14 degrees

could get quite cold overnight with uppers dropping fairly quickly

keep watching the atlantic to see what that storm does

Posted Image

ukmo at 144

cool with a gusty westerly wind

see the atlantic storm isobars tightening

however at 980 pressure would be a normal winter storm for us at present

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole. A warm first half to to the month averaged out the cold second half. View the full blog here
