Well it looks like the rain isn't half as bad as what was predicted. Yesterday on the other hand totted up 24.5mm here in Egham, which if I'm correct, is the 4th wettest day I've recorded here.

At least it's mild though.

Yes, happy birthday Steve, you spring chicken, you! Posted Image

Nice of you to say, although I feel a bit more like a late summer chicken!  Posted Image I won't say an autumn chicken, as that sounds near the end. Posted Image

Raining, steadily at 15C on the car temp and the drizzle-ometer for the windscreen wipers was 50% intermittent and 50% insufficient for intermittent so I had to switch them on and off.

An incredibly busy few days has seen us in Bournemouth to set up the place by the sea and then to the west country visiting father in Bath RUH. Across the M3 and A303 the trees were only about one-third turned yellow/orange, but some well-flooded bits of road followed Sundays squally showers that took some wide circuits to get around, while there were some excellent monsoon-like showers along the M25 Surrey stretch Saturday lunchtime. On Friday there were what I can only describe as utter lunatics (but in a good way!) doing something that I would describe as kite-boarding in the very rough sea at Sandbanks, being dragged along by the strong winds and quite literally flying through the air on occasions - I'll post some pics when at home - it looked amazing. The journey 'back east' last night had a full moon straight ahead of us for the whole journey which looked fab.

The rain has come at the exact point we are getting the tumbling wall at the end of the garden that borders a busy pavement and main road taken down, rebuilt and re-fenced. To say the change from dry and mild to wet and mild has caused delays is to put it even more mildly than the temperature, which is particularly frustrating after 5 weeks of waiting to get it done watching the dry conditions pass.... Hmmmm....

Have a good rainy day everyone:)

PS Happy Birthday Steve!

Happy birthday Steve,

I find with every birthday the mind still feels young it's just the body that finds it increasingly difficult to keep up!

At least the weather has cheered up a bit, some warm sunshine this time of year 18/19c is not a bad birthday present.Posted Image

Just popped in before I make a mad dash for the shops and get in some supplies between the showers, been a dull, wet and windy day again, oh well at least I was indoors.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole. A warm first half to to the month averaged out the cold second half. View the full blog here
