Go and look Southwest to see the brilliant apparition of the planet Venus "the evening star" and the new crescent Moon - exquisite!

Another snow shower passed through not too long ago and on the back garden it left a slight dusting and also a covering ontop of the cars. A super cold, December twilight with a crescent moon.

Thanks, I might have missed that! Yes, that's a beautiful sight.

Maybe not?

This is what happened in December 1983 across there, albeit it was even more extreme.

Don't understand why there wasn't a red warning! if this storm was 200 miles further south we would know everything about it! So typical of the BBC.

Well that's good news,  as January 1984 was awesome here!

After the storm a couple of snow showers in St Andrews this afternoon but nothing settling. Now dry and cold. 0.3c in Crail. Cold airmass but I don't think the wind will die down enough to allow me to record a decent low min here - haven't seen -3c since Dec 2010!

Still can't get how the Graun mistook Inverness for Aonach Mor, bunch of London-centric tossers. Almost might make me vote yes.

I'd guess because Aonach Mor is in the traditional county of Inverness?

Edit: What have they done btw?

That's what they did, and wrote that Inverness had had 142mph winds because they didn't check their facts in the rush to get click-bait up on the website. How's Inversneckie this evening?

It's all white out there now, maybe about an inch lying. I don't think we'll get much more up here, but what's there may freeze over during the night which could make tomorrow's journey to college interesting!

Severe gales and heavy snow showers today. Had a fairly busy day at work, all weather related but nothing too serious in the end.

Power been off all day here and just went back on. I'm off to read the news and see what happened, it's been a long day with no internet!

We still have our patchy light snow cover from earlier. The nice thing is that it's such a cold, dry airmass there's no watery rubbish in between the patches. I'd rather have this than heavy, wet snow!

Radar healthy in North Sea...oil rigs be getting pasted

ECM removes the doom in MT but some now paranoid that it is purposely winding them up lol

In all seriousness things could change very quickly and lets hope a week from now we are looking to the charts preparing for a cold shot the week leading up to Xmas
