Yes, I am , but haven't had the chance to get the telescope out for ages, and it doesn't look like it'll be happening any time soon!

Since it's really quiet in here thought this would appropriate time to postIs there any books out there that look at winters of UK/Europe of the past or even books based on the severe winters experienced?

I've got the original book and it is a good read. However, it is full of commentary from south of the border, not much from a Scottish perspective. It doesn't have any synoptic charts to back up the stories.

Average temperatures, grey, overcast, derich, drizzly, dull -   What's not to love?

Has to be the most uninspiring, boring, lifeless, pointless weather you can get!

Ach well, time for a Sunday Sesh !

Same pish here 10 C and dreich.  Weather station back online after being knocked oot on Thursday.

searched for Scotlands mildest December day which was 18.3 C in the west Highlands 2nd Dec 1948. Dont think we will reach that but might reach 14 or 15 .

I suppose if it's 10-12c for the next 2 -3 weeks. We could be looking at the mildest December in years.Nothing else to do but watch the average as there are no cold prospects.I have decided this is actually October and our winter starts mid Jan and finishes mid April. It is a late autumn and that has been the pattern.I am gutted for the ski centres as at the moment skiing won't start until mid Jan.It takes at least 10 days to build the bases.

That's the Atlantic Blowtorch cuisine, suppose it's got to be good for something!  Flambéd goose à la GFS with more than a touch of drizzled Iceland soup...

Went out for a walk with the dog this afternoon and I'll grudgingly concede... It's mild. I was wearing a polyester T - shirt and a thin fleece and I was sweating all the way around. Car said 10C, saw the sun briefly but mainly a viel of high cloud, virtually no breeze. Think I'll stay away from the model thread and just have a scan through the model output myself until either something interesting turns up or Loretta manages to invent a cold weather generator.

Damp at 10.8C with a WSW breeze. Just back from Highland Perthshire where the rain is a bit more organised and the car showed 13C at one point.

Temperature in Lapland due to go from current -33C to +3C on Wednesday - that's crazy stuff!

Forget my earlier reported daily Maximum. It is currently +11.3C and rising!

Well all i can say was it was a bit breezy on the sky flyer 200ft up in the air over Edinburgh today. A lot of buffeting to say the least and rather disconcerting tipping of the seat with only a locking bar holding us in our seats! Not a ride for the faint hearted lol! Presume they closed it later due to wind increasing.  On the the upside the trip to town was relatively mild for going round St Andrews Square, princes st gardens and some shopping.

Hoping to pop into the model thread for a catch up.
