Nice gap in the rain bands!

Hope we get the gap here. I made our garden centre's plant areas look awesome yesterday. Heavy rain like that will bash all the flowers down and spoil the look of the place.

We should be safe here though.

What's the worst that could happen? :-p

Torrential rain all of last night, here. Not a single flash of lightning or rumble of thunder. I woke up at 02:00 to the sound of continuous torrential rain on the roof.

Ahh back to business as usual, nothing much here overnight, the weakest part of the front hit us so just drizzle now.

Morning all  :hi:

Phew that was some rain we had last night, a good old-fashioned deluge. 10.3mm recorded for today already, and it's only eight o'clock :)

I think the Midlands may be in the best place for thunderstorms today so some us may get lucky. BBC forecast has some pretty dramatic looking precipitation for 7pm around Nottinghamshire/west Lincolnshire!

Dry here now, but this cloud cover doesn't seem to be shifting yet.

No sunshine = no warmth = no fireworks.

I find in these situations the cloud breaks from about 11am.

18.2mm overnight here, no storms.  Not liking the look of what is heading this way from the Cherbourg peninsula right now.  May well have our name on it this time....

Coventry had 17.4mm last night (10am) and nearby Church Lawford 16.8mm (up to 0700). Wettest day in Coventry since January:

Currently 14.5℃ and dark to my south.

Well, last night's rain was pretty spectacular. I certainly wasn't disappointed! I broke a record, 177.2mm/hr rain rate.

Here's a poor video of a bit of flooding that started to occur .. The sound doesn't do it justice, it was deafening!

Yep, I reckon it's heading straight at you - lucky so & so.

I wonder if it might reach the West Midlands? Seems to be building all the time.

Probably on course for South Wales Bish, Midlands should have its own showers and storms by early afternoon.

We had a measly 8mm here (first test of my new pro raingauge!) - 25-30mm was forecast early yesterday. It was very heavy for a brief time though. The band rapidly fizzled out as it hit Blighty didn't it.

Some activity has just popped up ahead of the main cell. It's providing some decent rumbles to the south of here.

This snap is looking that way, towards the New Forest.
